We have a Saskatoon bush in the back yard
Picked about 4 cups in 1/2 hour the other evening , still not quite super ripe and ready yet but great desert!

ours in the yard have all been picked, took the nets off and letting the robins have the rest.
The ones in the river valley should be just perfect right now!
Not as many as last year but still love having these berries in the yard.

Raspberries are in the freezer, cherries are ripe, but we just eat those.

Plums will be next, then about 500 apples...please no hail on my apples this year, please!!!!

I picked about the same amount in the same time off one huge tree along the NSR right here in Edmonton. Biggest Saskatoon bush I've ever send. Easily 8 inches across the trunk at the base, with branches shooting out 16-20 feet. Going back for more this weekend. Baked a pie with the first bunch I picked.

its been a record year for saskatoons out here. With June being cooler and wetter than normal the bushes are/were loaded. Season is pretty much done. We picked 3 ice cream pails in under an hour.

My dog won't stop eating them, we have 5 acres of em, every time I look out he's in the patch. Hope he don't get worms. It's like I won a lottery around here, every short tail relative of my wife's shows up to get some, then is gone till next year. (that parts ok though). Good year here, ton's of them.

Ours are not quite ready yet, but lots there. Had to put the solar pest chaser, high frequency with laser lights facing the bushes to keep the robins from eating them all. It works.

Lots of blight on mine this year.
But still enough to go out after supper and have your dessert right off the tree.

We went to the Saskatoon farm near de Winton to check out the crop. Very sparse in spite of all the moisture we had in the Spring. The owner told us that it is last year's moisture that determines the crop. Last year was very dry.

Glad to hear there are lots to be had in other parts.

Wife and I picked a gallon in about an hour today. Ripe berries next to green berries next to dried and shriveled berries. An odd growing year for us.

Down here near Claresholm we have about 7 little raisins per branch. Last year was dryer than this year so I guess it’s showing.

Damn birds. Went out to my land to pick berries and my main berry patch has been raided by birds. Booo.

Default And the Blueberries are ripe Too!!!

Calling Lake is loaded with Saskatoons. 2 of us picked 4 gallons in 2 hours, and stopped. The bush is still loaded with red ones that will be ready next week. Branches were bent on the ground. Some clusters looked like grapes hanging. No Lie.

Biggest surprise was the blueberries. God Bless Global Warming!!! There are lots of ripe and plump blue berries. Yes there are a bunch that are still growing, but there are lots of berries ready to pick.

The patch is a bit sparse for fruit bearing plants, but the plants that have berries have very large berries and good clusters.

Earliest I have seen ripe blue berries.

The wild raspberries are also ripe now. A perfect Trifecta of berries.

Wife and I picked 6L or so today and hardly made a dent. Mostly high bush at our place so it takes some effort to get them but what a bounty. Made a crisp for ourselves and one for the folks this evening. Good does not do justice.

Went to pick at a favorite place that has produced good numbers year after year. New subdivision now being plowed over and buses all gone. No berries this year. Guess I better find some bushes to plant.
