Default Another Sako A7

Just wanted to give update.

Got out tonight and shot the A7 300 WSM for the first time. Quickly ran some factory 180 gr. Accubonds through it and got 1.5" group. Then Bowcanyon had some factory 180 gr. TSX Federal loads to spare so gave those a try and presto... 3/4" or .8 group without any effort at all. With a bit of play and some hand loads I think this rifle has great potential.

The gun is light so recoil was expected and sure enough you know when the hammer drops. It was overall very pleasant to shoot. I have no disappointments with the rifle in any way. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice pack rifle for the mountains that comes without the huge price tag.

I went with Leupold 4.5-14 x 40 and Leupold QRW rings.

Group shot at 120 yds shown with water bottle cap for reference.

I picked this one up at wholesale and at the time it was 1099 + GST

I would think it may be .5" capable with some good handloads. Time will tell but I have yet to hear of one that doesn't shoot as sako says.

Mine was 5 Lbs 15 oz. on the scale at work. Gun, and factory bases. Well under the advertised weight. Not sure what is with the scope and rings but i would guess right at 7 lbs. It feels like a feather for me who is used to packing an 8 lb. rifle with out scope and rings.

Both of my A7s have weighed less than advertized. I just put a lightweight Leupold with Talley ultra lights on the 270 wsm and it doesn't weigh 63/4 pounds with the mag full.

My .270 wsm stainless was 5 lb 15.5 oz without the super light weaver bases so maybe 6.0 lb with? maybe. And my 6.5-20x40 lr leupy vxIII with an elevation target knob and butler creeks installed was exactly 17.5 oz on same scale....with 30mm talley's the total weight of package without ammo is 7 lb 3.5 oz.
