Waiting impatiently for ice off, so i'm going to hit the north sask river this weekend, going to throw a streamer about, is this going to work, floating line and maybe weight the fly

Nothing wrong with that set up. I personally prefer a sink tip but have caught fish there with just a longer leader and split shot.

The rocky mountain whites like white flies bounced along the bottom on faster water edges. Streamers for walleye or pike maybe. Most goldeye and mooneye might not be here yet. Helgramite patterns might work early in the season.

The NSR water is really dirty right now with the runoff and ice chunks grinding the banks. I would try to look for any inputs that at least might provide a little clearer water for a bit.

And yes, a big 'ol weighted streamer fished slow and deep is likely a good bet now.

Ive been down a couple of times this year till i had my heart attack last week.
Did well even with the dirty water and found a couple of deeper pools full of Walleye. I just drag the hard wear slower than usual and stopping lots which gives them time to react as it comes into there view. Not sure thats the correct way but it works in dirty water for me.

Started having trouble with my shoulder again using the fly rod so i used a lot of my time out there trying to learn to cast left handed. Good little place to practice.

You ready for another year?
