Order one size up, they fit snug. They fit well if you are into the really snug athletic look, I prefer a little extra room.

I wouldn't say they are necessarily snug. They are however fitted according to their layering methodology for instance I bought a super down jacket I wear a large in arcteryx as well as first lite and the kuiu large worked for me. I also have a pelton hoody its made to fit tighter as a base layer and the large would have worked well however I was looking for something I could wear stand alone so i got an xl so it fit more like a normal hoody.

I agree with 1 size up for outer layers. I have a guide jacket in a large and wish I had the XL. I find the large is a little snug when the temperature drops and i need to layer up.

Be prepared to spend at least an extra $120 on duty...

Catch their gear days. They were in Alber, been in BC for a while, looks like they might be coming back to Alberta? I missed the last days in Alberta, crossing my fingers for next to try on gear. Follow the event schedule on FB.

I found that for the under layers go with your standard size for t shirts and hoodies, but for the outer layers go one size up. I bought one of the insulated snap jackets in a large for a base layer and it fits nice, for the outer layers i went with an XL (guide jacket, and rain jacket) 5'11'' 195 btw. If you know somebody that has some gear give it a test fit before you order.

Call Kuiu and get Dallas' phone number. If you're near red deer you might be able to swing by his place and try everything on!

sizing guide
They have a sizing guide on their website, measure yourself up and order. I was fortunate enough to be able to try it all on but already had the measurements and sizes figured out from the website, it was nice to verify the fit but not necessary. Duty will be bad but its still on par if not cheaper than sitka and a much better product if you ask me.

I have a few pieces but wish their guide jacket was sized differently. I have worn North Face, Columbia, etc. XL for years and can throw a couple of layers underneath no problem. I wear a XXL guide jacket and there isn't room for much else. It is cut for california fashion, not hunting Alberta. And the next size up is huge.

I'm 6 ft tall, 185 pounds, with really long monkey arms, a 32 inch waist, and 41 inch chest. I ordered the Chugache NX rain jacket and kenai jacket in large (my typical size) but ordered the zipoff merino pants, kenai pants and chugache nx pants in medium. I ordered the jackets in large rather than extra large because last year I got a firstlite jacket in XL at recommendations of people online, and was swimming in it - way too big.
I ordered the kuiu pants in medium because they are apparently the best fit for my waist. However, the merino zip offs are very tight around my calves, which are pretty chicken-like so im dissappointed. If i went up a size I bet the waist would be too big as theyre not really adjustable. The kenai and chugache pants are perfect for my waist. However, the merinos really restrict movement when extending my knees as high as i can, especially when paired with the other two pairs. The jackets fit great but are definitely more athletic fit. I just tripped out when I realized the merino and kenai pants are kapris... which will hopefully not be an issue when paired with longer socks and gaiters. Chugache jacket is pretty snug with the kenai jacket underneath but it fits.
Hope these clothes were worth the huge price tag. I would send back the merinos, chugache jacket, and pants and go a size up in each but am fed up with paying so much duty and shipping. Wish there was a local distributor or other option.

I own quite a bit of Kuiu gear, including a Guide jacket, and haven't found this to be the case at all. They're not building for "california fashion", but they are definitely targeting hunters that don't have that spare tire thing going on.

I found they do fit tighter then most hunting gear, they fit similar to Sitka so go try some on for comparison.

There is not a ton of extra room through the chest or shoulders for layering. In my mind sizing is sizing and in my experience they are pushing two sizes difference from most other clothing lines. Not only that, but their sizing varies from year to year.

That's hard to believe that's a xxl. Barely get a sweater under it.

I like the jacket. But if you want to throw a vest under it you feel like you are in a straight jacket.

Edit: link for a different thread
I've been looking to get a chugach jacket. M is perfect according to the sizing chart but after reading comments here I feel I should get a L. I'm slim and all legs so I feel my torso usually fits smaller than others my size but the sizing thing with kuiu has kept me from jumping at a deal. Not to mention the regular pricing is tough to justify

Chuck, don't worry too much about what AlbertaDave has to say. He has the stature of a 14 year old boy only shorter.
He does act like a "big man" on the internet though...

I'm a Medium in pretty much every shirt i own. Except for Kuiu.
Wore my LARGE Tiburon shirt last night, that fits snug, the neck is so small it feels like one day it will rip going over my head.
I also own a Kuiu merino longsleeve in a large that fits snug.
I'm a runner, 5'8", 175 lbs, no beer gut.
I'll probably pick up the guide pants and jacket this year, will be ordering large for sure.
Cheers.

I would have thought that you, of all people, would have been a little more familiar with the "stature" of adolescent boys.

Great stuff
Bottom line...their stuff is great! I have a bunch of it (pants, shirts, jackets, gear, etc.), the sizing is pretty exact as per their on line sizing charts. I find the Sitka stuff to fit way more on the "skinny jean" side of things...not my style. Besides, once you have the sizing dialled in, you're good to go, and their customer service is second to none...not something you find often these days. Take it for what its worth...

Canadian Website is Active
FYI for those who don't know already...
The Kuiu website has many options now live for ordering/shipping/currency....including Canada.
Seeing the costs in Cdn dollars is scary!!
I echo earlier comments about their gear...it's amazing.
