Darn, I'll be at work! Last years spring shoot was a lot of fun, I'm sad that I'll miss this.

65 bucks for a one day shoot...and I have to drive 3 hour round trip to buy the membership?
Same last year this is frustrating. I have shot at competitions all over the province at other fish and game ranges and there was nevere a requirement for a membership. Why is this such a problem for SPFGA?
I would support your shoots but the executive need to remove that criteria.

Shoot the fall event as well then you can get 2 shoots for $75. Or just spend $5 on a box of tissues.

clearly you're not a golfer.

$60 plus $30 for a cart per person and it's boring as all hell.

You can pay for and get a membership through the mail but you may not have the keycard for access in time for the shoot.

I already have multiple memberships (AFGA and other ranges). Not interested in buying another one. Good luck with your shoot.
Thanks for the reply.

I'm sure if they draw up a waiver they could make things work for non members... I know there are plenty of other fish and game clubs just doing a waiver...

Well, being that it is hard to get a membership because of the great deal (shooting ranges, trap field, archery, fishing pond and free camping)...I doubt we'll miss you.

The organizers that volunteer to set this up are top notch. It's a fun place to be a part of an event and I'm sure it's worth the membership price. I'm sure those of you going back and forth would get along better if you were shooting 3d together rather than arguing on the forum.
338 bluff, I'd highly recommend considering the membership if you can use the facilities after this event. If not, then I totally get it. Have a great year flinging some arrows

Was there this morning and did a round and shot 3 under par. (all in the kill zone and 3 in the bull). |More relaxing and way cheaper than golf. Also I needed a relaxing activity this morning after watching the Oiler's game last night!

Well seeing as some members are so 'welcoming' I won't miss you either. Club I belong to has a trap field, skeet and archery too. Times are tight and the 55 buck may as well be gas to go fishing.
Thanks to those that made helpful replies and the few that can't handle some criticism.....well you have a nice day too.

That I can relate to. I wonder how hard it would get to find a zombie NHL referee target?

Its tough to get a membership because the range is next door to a million people and you are capped. Your facilities are definitely nice, but if you charged 300 bucks you would still need a cap.....and I am not criticizing the fact you have a cap on the full membership as it is necessary.

Well put Bluff. I think a lot of people have got bad cabin fever. Or maybe the refereeing in the Oilers series has made people miserable. I'm sure you would be welcome wherever you went.

I know there was talk of having any AFGA members able to participate in the shoots. I thought things were going that way. I am not on the executive and have been a SPFGA member for many years, just ecstatic there is an active archery group there again. The work done in the past two years has completely revamped the archery area.

I feel at $55 a general membership there is a bargain (one year all benefits but firearm ranges)....but I already purchase a full family membership.

Hopefully in the future they can open up the archery shoots and showcase what the range has to offer.

Let's just be clear here.
You start off in post #7 telling everything that is wrong with SPFGA and why you don't join...then get hurt feelings when someone (me) says 'so what'?
Okay!

I know they make a "zebra" 3D target..... that would be close enough.

Well, to be honest, it was a real disappointment. Spent 10 hours between Friday and Saturday morning setting up course in misty rain. Only 3 people managed to show up for shoot on Sunday so we've decided to only have a shoot in August each year for now. Next 3D Hunter shoot will be August 20.

Mother's day is just not a good day to schedule something.
Maybe first weekend in June would be better

That was the only reason I was not there, tough sell when the wife doesn't shoot.

That's why we are not intending to have a shoot in May next year. Weekend before Mother's Day has always had iffy weather. Weekend after is Long Weekend and most people are away. Last weekend in May is Oilmans' shoot which we attend. Every weekend in June is s shoot somewhere and as avid 3D archers, we attend those also. July is usually a bust as people are away on holidays and we have shoots to attend. So, August 20 will be the next 3D shoot for the SPFGA.
