New bow!
I got the text from Lawrence at Accurate Archery on Thursday afternoon that my new bow was here! Needless to say, I was pretty excited! So Friday morning after checking some trail cameras I go out for a visit! I spent a pretty good chunk of the day visiting and setting up the new baby. After running it through the chronograph and getting an initial tune in on it I went home, extremely pleased with the new bow.
I got home and put a hundred or so arrows through it to settle everything, then proceeded to super tune and primp and preen. Here's what it looks like.
Hoyt Carbon Defiant Turbo Harvest Brown
28" draw, 70# limbs #2 cam
Bomar draw stops, HHA Kingpin sight
Hamskea Hunter Hybrid rest, G5 peep.
Bee Stinger 8.6 stab kit.
Next was to go to the range today and determine the sight tape for the kingpin. While I was there I worked my way back to 100 yards and shot to see how my tune worked out. I'd say she is ready to roll! 8 arrows into 7"" is good enough for me!
I went home and after installing the wheel with the new sight tape on it I had to chronograph it. To my delight it is even faster than my 2015 Nitrum Turbo after the final tune. I think it's going to be a good bow, holds well, shoots well and performs well.
A huge thanks to Lawrence for helping me out! The carbon Hoyts are starting to roll in good now. Go check them out!

Very nice. I held one at the Black Sheep in Coure d'Alene and felt super nice in the hand but did not have time to fling a few.

Whatever it takes to balance properly. Each bow is different, mine has 2oz up front and 10oz out back. Same amount of weight different configuration.

Bear in mind I barely have a couple of hundred arrows through this bow.
Yes. I think it is a step up from the 2015 nitrum, and it pains me to say it because I love my Nitrum so much too!
My initial thoughts are that the draw cycle is smoother, with a marked decrease in drop to the valley. The valley does seem a little shorter than on my Nitrum turbo though. Also, I found it quite a bit more stable as a bare bow versus the nitrum. I'm not sure why that is, perhaps it has something to do with the decreased string angle I'm not sure. It definite holds more stable though. It also seems more dead in the hand after the shot as a bare bow. The nitrum itself is very good, but the defiant is that much better.
This bow drew about 5/16" long out of the box once I got it on my draw board, but that was fairly easily remedied. As I mentioned, it is apples to apples all that the nitrum turbo is as far as speed, and I would say it is better in a few other ways. The dfx cam rotating mods are a dream to use as well.

Well yeah I know why I'm was just saying that's a lot of weight to have on a hunting bow (Probably just over 1.5 lbs for that stab set up)
I hunted last fall with a similar big stab setup as you know; with half that weight and ended up hating it. It was just too much weight and clumsiness to hunt with IMO..... really enjoyed shooting it otherwise.

To each his own, I hunted all season with that amount never really noticed.

That's a beauty set-up you have there! I love the new hoyts! I'm still shooting my 2011 crx32. Would love to upgrade to the carbon defiant, but with the current exchange rate, I find the prices way too high. Right now I'm working on upgrading my accessories, and then I'll buy a new bow next year maybe? I hope they keep going with the adjustable cams, and don't go back to the modules. Good luck this season, I hope you get a chance to play some string music for your animal of choice.

The on target 2 software calculates the IBO speed of my nitrum turbo to be 352 fps, and the carbon defiant turbo comes in at 353.5 fps based on the numbers over both mine and Lawrences chronographs.

Hi - great looking bow! Where did you get the Bomar draw stops? I have a Carbon Defiant Turbo coming in and would like to install the Bomar stops on it. Thanks!
