Default Mathews Z7 draw weight

Hi everyone

New to the forum. Been shooting for decades.

Just picked up a Mathews Z7 with SE4 70/29 limbs. The 29" draw is perfect but I'm not a huge guy and can't pull 70#. I know they can be turned down to around 60# but have heard that you want to try and keep them cranked down as much as you can. Any experience out there with issues having the limbs cranked out 5 turns so that the bow is shooting on the lighter side of draw weight?

I guess my other option is to see if I can get a set of 50-60# limbs. Anyone out there want to trade 😃

Default No Issues

You may find that the bow is a bit louder but other than that...no issues. Shoot away. If 60 lbs is still too much go to the new limbs but they won't be inexpensive. You are better to shoot a weight you are comfortable with rather than struggle with a high weight. Good luck.

Thanks. Was just worried about damaging the limbs. Will crank them out and see how it feels. Shooting a 50# Bear right now. Should be able to pull 60# I think. If not I'm hitting the gym I guess

Or if someone is looking at trading their 50-60# for some 70#'s I'm willing to trade

You can often pick up a set of used limbs on archery talk for $100.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check that out. Jim Bows wants $225 for a new set

That's probably pretty good.

The $100 is US currency, plus shipping - and they are used.

I just cranked it down to 60# and I can draw it fine. Just heard that they shoot better if cranked closer to their peak draw weights.
