Finally, on their way.
Here's a little info on the Bibio:

Hook:Size 10-14 wet fly hook (ited them on a 12)
Body: Black, Red and Black (3 parts seals fur)
Body: Oval silver (I used french tinsel which give a nice sparkle)
Body hackle: Black cock
Head hackle: Black Hen

The original dressing is attributed to Major Charles Roberts of the Burrishoole Fishery, Country Mayo, Ireland. He was a long time vistor of the fishery and fishery manager for several decades.
It was orignally tied to represent the heather beetle for seatrout on loughs Furnace and Feeagh, and also the bibio fly common there.

Usually used as a top dropper in a team of flies, I used it in Alberta as a single fly very succesfully on lakes with a floating line, slow retrieve or quick little strokes with a short pause in between. It stays just near the surface film, just underneath and makes a nice movement with the added sparkle of the rib. The brookies were going very aggressively for it, especially later in the season. Also worked great for brown trouts in streams when they weren't going for anything else on the surface.

Hi crawad. Just checking if you received mine. You said you did not receive any this week, but my tracking number showed it was delivered on Monday.
Thanks!

Hmmmm...
The fly swap was initiated a month ago. 40% of the entrants have still not shipped their flies.
I don't buy the busy, distracted, ran out of material, excuses. How long does it take to tie 10 flies?
And yes, since I'm not part of the fly swap, I realize its really none of my business, but felt the need to put in my 2 cents.

In my case, the flies went out in time (I thought), they just haven't made it yet. Big difference and like you said, none of your business. By the way, the due date is today. Next time you feel "the need to put in my 2 cents" try harder to resist.

As mentioned in my previous post on this page, mine were posted last week, so were professori. 20% of apparently late participants is pretty good for a fly swap.
Life is complicated and sometimes it's tough to find the time to even tie 10 flies. I always find that fly swaps take longer than expected, it's the nature of the beast.

Hey , as long as we all get them before that ice melts , I don't see a big deal . It's nice to be part of something, I realize people get busy and also realize that the postal service kinda has a lot on their plate this time of year ....
Everything comes to he who waits ...

Lol. That's classic.

Anyways.... just wanted to thank those who found the time during the busy season and with all the plethora of reasons that schedules change, leading to not having the time that we initially thought/hoped.

Oh oh, somebody is a little bit jealous now 'cause he saw that the quality of the flies coming in is a lot better than expected!

No question the quality of the flies submitted is very good. There are even a few patterns (from the pictures) that I will undoubtedly copy.

Nonetheless, with the exclusion of serious complications, no one can convince me that it should/could take over a month to tie/ship 10 flies.

Finally, whose expectations are we talking about? Hah!

I'm done.

Go ahead without me. I picked up the mail today and there was my envelope posted to crawdad. When I went to the post office, they passed the envelope through the guage they have there, but it came back today with a note that it exceeded 3/4" and it needed $10.48 extra postage. If I repack and send it off, it still won't make it by the new year. Good luck all, sorry to have missed seeing the collection of great flies in person.

Hey prof, we pretty well all have to wait for spring which is at least 3 months away, so get your flies to crawad but no rush.

Now you understand why I was bellyaching earlier about postage costs!

I forgot to add, I had the same problem with them wanting $10 for postage with my original packaging. Since Id need return postage too I figured $20 total was too much for me, and opted for just attaching the flys to a thin piece of cardboard and using a regular envelope with two stamps. Works, and although the fly's I receive may get a bit crushed, I think its much better than not receiving them at all
