Why the need ?

I don't shoot 3D but I know the problems that come up with rebuilding 3D targets.

I tried spray foam insulation to rebuild my 3D buck target a while back,
It became the ultimate black hole target ever since.
Arrows go in but they don't come out.

The need is because the club I shoot at ask for you to use it for there 3-d course so you don't destroy there targets and I don't know if you have ever shot Reinhardt targets but they are some tough pulling your arrow out without lube.

I find the delta/Mckenzie targets to be worse for pulling arrows than the rinehart! Either way, lube definitely helps, a lot! I used to use ivory soap, like what's mentioned above. It does work great. I just like using the scorpion venom better now. One little dab on the field tip, and you're good to go.

I just tried out rcbs case lube because it was sitting on my reloading table and I have never purchased arrow lube. It worked so well I might just keep using it

Not sure why the club would request you use lube it doesn't do anymore damage if you didn't use any...
