Default Two electric aircraft, one which is in flight testing now.

I didn't think that electrical flight was practical, but two companies in Germany have or are developing electric powered aircraft The helicopter is now being flight tested.

But even more exciting is the battery powered jet, with a range of 500km at 400kph. It is expect to be ready in 2018 and is run by a number of young engineers and programmers, and includes backing by the European Space Agency.

Oh, and it is VTOL, vertical landing and take off. You can fly it from your acreage.

I truly am surprised that battery powered planes, at least at the personal level, are a reality already. I expect it to be many more years before the technology was there.

The technology is there and is getting better all the time. There's going to be a lot of problems though by the time every Tom Dick and Harry has one flying out of his back yard, people texting while screaming around at 400 kms per hour, not watching for other traffic, buzzing houses, scaring livestock, etc, etc. I'm actually glad that by this time comes, I'll be out of the industry and put out to pasture.
