Interesting figures on stolen police guns, and that is just the RCMP apparently.
And they seem to think they are not responsible for their stolen guns?

Very interesting podcast from Roy Green, discussing the situation with the ex-pres of the Cdn Police Assoc, and with Scott Newark, who was a vice director(?) in the Cdn Police assoc, and a former AB prosecutor and is now a professor at SFU, also with Tony Bernardo, Vice director of the CSSA. Some real interesting stories on the gun control issues over the years.

Too well written not to share, From a fella on FB who posted it in Cdn Voters against C71, Mike Hanly;

Only the very worst laws create criminals with no benefit to society.

The surge in Canadian handgun ownership was caused by our current gun control. Windy Wendy, Heidi the Wrath and Allen Rocks for brains pushed forward a regime of gun control laws were only intended to harass law abiding Firearms owners and absolutely nothing else. These idiots were so focused on their plot to get rid of legally owned Firearms that they threw common sense to the wind and went in the face of everything we know about creating effective laws.

Our current regime was based upon their mistaken and fool hardy belief that imposing the same harassment on long gun owners that was placed on handgun owners in the 1930's would result in similar declines in levels of ownership. This had backfired because when all of the useless harassment piled on handgun owners was piled on long gun owners the difference was reduced to a one day course and a couple of dollars and this changed the face of Canadian gun ownership. More Canadian gun owners than ever before are licenced to own restricted Firearms and this is a direct result of the wrong kinds of laws being written and imposed for all of the wrong reasons.

The largest increase in Firearms crime in Canadian history was the day that C-68 took effect. Over a 1,000,00,000% increase took place on a single day, millions of law abiding Canadians became criminals as they slept in their beds at the stroke of midnight. One half of Canadian gun owners refused to participate in any way with this new regime of gun control.

Harper's common sense reforms did nothing more or less than restore confidence to a portion of these Firearms owners bringing them back into the law and back into the light. This is the only reason that these legislative changes appear to be followed by a increase in gun ownership, they do not represent an increase in ownership they represent an increase in compliance of gun owners.

The last thing Canadians need is more of the worst kind of laws.

I guess you can call it a history of what went on this time around, because you know there will be a next time, assuming the Cons win next yr. Bernier isn't helping us any, and I am not sure at all about Scheer, he could be another Stanfield.

Apparently Rod Giltaca got invited to the Conservative convention this wk, and of course, that got noticed in the media;

And a host from CKNW passing on a poll on twitter from another CKNW personality, likely an afterthought from Giltaca's interview;

So, the police associations don't think it is necessary, and don't want to have to send their people into this situation, but Trudeau wants to do it anyway. The mandate has been given to Goodale and Blair;

Default The latest

Well here’s the latest. I’m not sure if it was confirmed yet, but seems like this solidified things.

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4801700

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.theg...-handguns-and/

I’d love to know what their legal definition of “assault rifle” is? Once they have this power, the feds will be trying to claw back everything, it’s only a matter of time. So long SKS and M-14, Ruger mini’s, XCR’s, ACR, AR’s, etc. So long 3 gun matches, and sport shooting, no more collectables. Not exactly sure how they can say this is a ban, but it won’t effect legal gun owners? If we just sit back and let this happen to our sport and heritage, well eventually have nothing left. Make no mistake that this is just the beginning, once lost, it will be next to impossible to recover.

I do not disagree that things are in dire need for a change. Shooting sprees are out of control, and the fact that legal purchases were then sold illegally with the demise on the registry. The Fredricton shooting with the “long gun”, carried out by a legal owner does not help the situation any. We need answers and not more of this RCMP make the decision based on looks and media outcries. Collectively we, as enthusiasts need to come to some sort of proposition because this is not going away.

Can we compare this to vintage automobiles in which were manufactured without seatbelts. We still see these on the road. Cars kill more people per year than guns do.

I’m asking the community, what do you think we could change, how can we neogotiate our terms, not be considered criminals over night simply by owning something that is currently legal all while appeaseing the public. We should not have to defend our rights again and again, but what other options do we have?

Opinions?

Well, a couple of considerations are the effect on working people in the firearms/sporting goods/hunting/tourism industry. How many businesses will disappear, how much will simply go underground, and what will it cost to implement it and enforce it? Will firearms owners commit to mass non-compliance? The gov't truly has no clue how many firearms there really are in this country. Compensation to collectors and owners? How many police officers will they lose to it, due their not wanting to be forced into implementing what has to be done on their end. What kind of a regime will it create in this country? Forcible entry and confiscation?
Will a foreign national be able to bring an autoloading shotgun into the country to hunt birds, or an MR1 or a BAR to hunt big game, or a 10-22 to shoot gophers?? US citizens travelling to Alaska?
What will the effect on hunter numbers be? On the orgs like DU and CWTF and PF and etc.
What about the ammo, there are likely a billion rounds in this country.
And we have to get firearms owners of all stripes to participate, join the CCFR and CSSA and the NFA, I can spend that kind of money in one weekend on shotshells or even .22 shells.
And the calls and letters have to be made and sent to the Liberals and the Cons.
That is just a few quick ideas for consideration, I am sure others have more.

the new gun control bill may not seem very harmful to personal freedom now, but it does provide an opportunity for an overbearing government or political head of state to overreach their authority in the future. designating the RCMP bureaucracy as the sole arbiters of what is legal or not is unacceptable in a democracy. remember the High River gun grab? now the totalitarian principled brass in the RCMP can rule with impunity. leaving this with a personal observation... the countries which have the best personal freedoms and living standards also provide the easiest access to firearms.

I am in complete agreement with all except your characterization of the totalitarian brass in the RCMP as "principled'.

I submit that

"You should also be a member;

NFA"
I am quite encouraged by the forceful work being done by all these organizations, but they cannot do it alone.

I further submit that, we are wasting our time and energy advocating writing letters to controlled MPs (who do not care),
or the CMSM (controlled main-stream media), or their controlled polls,
(or 'preaching to the converted', in a dying echo chamber,)
rather we need to provide both volunteer and financial support to those best able to defeat both Liberal and NDP candidates.

We need to vote like our rights depend on it.

Good Luck, YMMV.

If your local gun club and gun shops are not doing something to fight this, ask them how they plan to exist in the future, who will shoot there, what will they be selling? How many people will become overnite paper criminals in possession of prohibited guns?

Are these facts or not?

From the folks at Wolverine in Virden;

Wolverine Supplies
14 hrs ·
Liberal handgun ban, could it happen? Yes I honestly believe it could. Everyone said the long gun registry would never happen but it did. Look at Australia and the UK, they were complacent there as well.

Now you all expect me to tell you to start writing to your politicians, then I get people asking me for “Form Letters” and let’s start a petition, the end result is very little happens. Why? Well this is Canada, we always react after the fact, “Too Little and Too Late” should be our motto. Most of us end up preaching to the choir which achieves nothing other than maybe further splintering a very diverse group of gun owners that can never agree on anything.

I believe one of the major issues that gun owners face is that the only time our neighbours and non gun owners hear about us in the press is when a criminal commits a criminal act with a gun. As gun owners we keep a low profile, keep quiet and maybe they will go away and pick on someone else.

Well as Canadian gun owners we are all destined to go the way of the dinosaurs unless we can educate the vast majority that do not own firearms, have no knowledge of firearms or firearm regulations and quite honestly don’t really care as a handgun ban has no personal affect on them. If they read in a newspaper that a handgun ban will make our streets safer of course they will support it. This is our target (no pun intended) audience time to educate them.

It is time gun owners, related businesses, and most of all gun clubs crawled out of the wood work and showed themselves. We are the law abiding responsible citizens, not the thugs and gang members that commit crimes.

Gun Clubs need to start listing their open hours, membership recruitment (If applicable) next competition dates, host family days, invite a friend day, have kids day. Before and after every event get a report in the local newspaper, make full use of social media. If your club is unwilling to get some publicity get on to your directors, maybe time to call a general meeting. After all if handguns are banned we do not need gun clubs, they will cease to exist.

Gun clubs and firearm businesses should host Corporate Team Building days, these are great fun and really open a lot of eyes.

Time to start educating non gun owners that legal hand gun owners are not the problem in Canada and taking our guns will solve nothing.

If banning our legal handguns will make Canada safer, I assume the RCMP and all Police Forces will stop carrying handguns, why would they need them ?

Time to start educating the non gun owners that the Liberals believe in prohibiting private legally owned registered possessions.

PS
PAL instructors should advertise their courses, "How to own a legal handgun" anything to make us known to the general public.

Everyone is welcome to post this anywhere in social media.

I agree with this post---Join the CCFR and the CSSA;

~URGENT CALL TO ACTION~

The Prime Minister has instructed Minister Bill BLAIR to find the best way to ban handguns and semi-auto long guns.

The majority of gun clubs in this country exist today as a result of the CFOs forcing owners of Restricted-class arms to join a club.

Banning R-class arms, either by means of confiscation or by confining them to a safe till the owner’s death, will inevitably bring an end to gun clubs, and recreational shooting, in Canada.

This is a far-greater threat than C-71.

We have got to get active and in a way previously unseen. Awaken your friends and fellow shooters. Join us at Canadian Voters Against Bill C-71. Instructions may be found in the ANNOUNCEMENTS section. Additional resources are in the FILES section.

This is all on us. The continuing existence of recreational shooting in Canada depends on you and me. Together. If we lose, we must lose knowing that we did everything possible.

Finally, to those who are members of the CCFR and/or the CSSA, write to them and *DEMAND* that they join forces in this, what will ultimately be our FINAL FIGHT.
