Default Suffern Lake SK

Anyone fly fish here in the last year or two? How was it? I have heard conflicting reports. Would be a 3 hr drive for me but thinking of checking it out soon.

It's not somewhere you go to catch lots of fish. It's got some quality fish though. I've had more skunks there than any other lake I think I've fished. Can be busy with guys trolling gear. Good chironomid hatches May/June. Best at ice out or late September IMHO.

Went down hill hard in the last 2 years over fished like crazy. D&R have been handing out fines every week for certain people liking to run more then one rod and keep everything they catch. It used to be a great place one time.

Right. Suffern lake. Big secret. LOL it's on the stocking report and made page two under important changes in the regs.

You must really hate the guy that publishes the Alberta Fishing Guide. Giving up all the secrets.

New limit for 2019. Limit is 3 with only one over 43 cm.

I was there a few years ago (the big fish are for sure gone now) and buddy poacher showed me a pic of his freezer filled with 4-10lb fish from there. He had 2 rods out and just was having a beer-of-a-time!

Thanks for the info guys. Shame about the overfishing and poaching. I had read some great stuff by John Kent about the lake from 7-8 years ago and was hopeful. Maybe give the lake and some other potholes in the area a try late September.
