Default Tree's First Elk Hunt!!!!!

So, we recieved final confirmation today! My hunting partner and I are heading up to GP on Saturday to take a crack at some elk and a big piece of private land that has never been hunted!

We're hoping to get in an evening bowhunt Saturday, hunt all day Sunday with the bows and hit it hard on Monday with the rifles! This is super last minute and I have so much to do between now and then. I haven't flung an arrow in a couple of months now, the last time I touched my rifle it was to remount the scope, and my amazing wife has concocted a minor 'honey do' list before I go! I can't wait as I have never specifically chased elk before. My partner has set up camps in 408 and in the Panther before, so he is experienced. The other guy coming with us is supposed to be one of the best callers in the province and super unselfish to boot. The landowner tells us that the herd is on his land every day and even winters there. Also, he has seen some pretty big bulls, and he assures us that we'll fill our tags! Wow! I'll naturally take a ton of pictures, and if this 'by the seat of our pants' trip works out, I'll be posting them. Man, these next few days are gonna be tough!

Make sure your equipment is all working good, you don't want your chance to slip away when it comes.

Good luck, I hope you get lots of action complete with a shooting opportunity.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the best wishes. Right back at ya, and I hope everyone also has a blast!

We're heading out to Sibbald in the early AM to get the guns on paper, and then fling some arrows and get the bugs out.

But man alive, what a rush on top of the excitement. Work is nuts, the kids getting ready to start hockey next week, so there are evening meetings, and a casino fundraiser on top of having to knock out a couple of quick evening side jobs to get some extra coin in the pocket. If it wasn't nuts, then I wouldn't be involved, chaos is my shadow. Man I feel like a 5 year old on Christmas eve!

Hey Ken good luck on your hunt too, I hope ya connect, and you just never know we might cross paths. Are there strippers in GP?lol Thanks guys.

Good hunting tree,

I'm talking about the elk.

I wouldn't know anything about peelers, anywhere, anytime, that's my story

Default good luck

hEY awesome news Tree. Good luck with your elk hunting up there. Sounds like a blast. I just got back from doing some work/quadding up there between GP and Grande Cache. Saw lots of bears and a pack of wolves. All black. Kinda eerie to see them all trotting down the trail at dusk.

Anyway, here's hoping you see some nice big racks.

Howdy TreeGuy, I will be hunting west/southwest of Grovedale on Monday, where do you plan to be? Perhaps we could connect in the mid day & compare notes. I expect to be in a red Jeep, what are you driving?

Sheeze guys.......Now I'm even MORE excited to go!

Rug, wolves.....bears? I don't understand? Monte Hummel of the WWF tells us that they are nearly extinct here? Are you pulling my leg man?

Ken, I have no freakin' idea where I am hunting....at all. I'll definately keep my eyes peeled for a red jeep. I'll be in the grey Ford......in the ditch! I just might need your services man! Good luck!
