Tarped Shed / Shelter Recommendations

I'm looking into getting a good quality tarped type shed/shelter that people often keep a car in.

Looking to put it up in backyard to keep quads, snowblowers, lawn mower etc.

Originally planned to build a big shed with metal roll up door, but decided the tarped shelter would be an easier to route to go.

Can anyone suggest a store or brand that is good? Or ones to stay away from?

This would be used long term and would need about 10ft wide x 20ft long.

My uncle and aunt have had a Cover-Tech portable garage structure at the lake for about 6 years and it has stood up very well so I got one for our place last year as well. I have been very happy with it's quality. It has held up in very strong winds and snow loads, and keeps my boat out of the elements throughout the winter. I would highly recommend them.

I sure you know , but whatever you get , make dam sure its anchored very well ...then add some more

Couple years back , my neighbour put one up , don't know the brand , but looked to be a good one .
about a week after they put it up . pretty strong wind came through and lifted it and flipped it over .

bent up a chunk of the eves of the garage that was beside where they put it up and then came down on the windshield of there car. all to the tune of about 600 bucks .

Surprisingly enough , the shelter thing took very little damage , and was back in place the next day ...with a lot more anchors

I have had 2. Both were from Costco. The first one is still in use today, over 7 years old, still original walls, but finally starting to show serious wear on the roof. The second was the updated model from Costco. it lasted 2 years and basically the roof dissolved from the sun in front of my eyes. I have since taken it down and swapped out the door panels with my old one. I like them better.
If I had to do it again would buy a curved roof shelter logic unit. better for handling snow load.

Good Point! I can imagine these shelters can take off like a kite. I will make sure to anchor the hell out of it.

Thanks for the input on the curved roof handling snow load better. I wonder how a guy can ensure the fabric on the roof doesn't disintegrate? Might be just the nature of the beast? I will be sure to check out Costco.

I had one briefly. Then it left my property and entered the neighbours. Not sure who owned it originally though. Yes ensure it's anchored.

Took some pictures of mine just now. Like I said, they have good anchors and straps that go over the unit to help hold it down. We had 100 kph winds this past summer that put our trampoline in a tree but the unit stayed put with no issues.

SamSteele, is that a ShelterLogic? Can't quite read the label in the pic. Very nice looking! How much does something like that cost?

Had one up at the lake 10 x 20 from CT. Bought it on sale and it was 4-5 years old when sold the lot. It was still in pretty good shape and as far as I know still up after 6 years. I went up at lest once a month and knocked the snow off. Mine was surround by tress on three sides so wind was never an issue. I would not hesitate to buy another.

On my second one. Try to keep them out of the wind, just the swaying back and forth will wear through the points where tarp meets metal poles. Next one will have duct tape reinforcement on those points. Also the zippers will go after 3 or 4 years of wind. Look for one where the front and back are separate pieces and the top is one piece that covers the top of each end, round top, one piece is best.
Current model is Canadian Tire one on sale half price (most times) about $300. Still standing.
