Mark

You are just being hard to get along with. I zero almost all of my hunting rifles at 300 yards, as long as it doesn't make that cartridge more than 3.5 high at 100. For the rifles zeroed at 300, it means you can pretty much hold on fur to 400. This is what Eric is getting at. On the rare occasions when I shoot farther than 400 yards, there is a verified drop card taped to the gun stock. The drop card starts at 100 yards and goes to 800. 50 yard increments from 100 to 500 yards, 25 after that. Drops are shot verified at the 100 yard increments to 600 yards.

My favourite hunting stories always start by somebody saying, I shot this deer, it was 800 yards away, I held it 6 feet above his back and I dropped him. Lol

Haha. You’re trying to tease the wrong guy. Those stories also amaze and make me laugh. I don’t even bother to correct them anymore.

If you read what I said, I mentioned that I verify my zero by shooting.

Ive just missed more animals than I want to remember by making assumptions and what I thought was educated guesses

Same here. When we start out. That’s all I was trying to help the OP and others avoid. Have a great day.
