That can only be achieved with a Ruger 10/22!

I've dropped many moose with 30-30
No problem and out past 100 yards. It's a slow hard hitting bullet. Packs a punch dropped many a deer as well. It's definitely under rated. No 62 " but many 40 plus in Newfoundland.

Hey guys, everyone knows the 30-30 is barely a deer rifle.

Now my 32 Special is a real moose rifle.

Seriously, on many forums folks will actually say a 30-30 isn't a deer rifle! I would use my 32 Special on moose but within its limits and when I happened to be carrying it and stumbled on a moose.

For a planned moose hunt give me my 444 Marlin. I benched it many years ago because I tried a 7MM Mag bolt. I sold that thing and carried the 444 for a few more decades. I'm always hoping to run into some old 215 grain Dominion 303 bullets because those were pretty good on moose 40 years ago before their fur turned to kevlar.

X2, I seen several deer dropped with a .243 which IMHO is an excellent deer rifle, its shot placement. Personally I like a bit bigger caliber but nonetheless its shot placement.

Well, that did nothing to cure my desire for a 30-30...

I hunted with a 30-30 exclusively for a few years, a Winchester 94. I got rid of it finally earlier this year, I had better iron sights on my Daisy BB-gun so I mounted the offset scope on it. Yes it will do the job but there are many others that will do it so much better.

Default Staged

STAGED!!! no REAL guide or hunter would start screaming yahoo when the moose hasn't even hit the ground yet... placement is key i agree. but last year my hunter smacked a 53 inch yukon moose with a 357. 3 times before he fell.. Once hard in the front right shoulder and once in the back right leg as he turned to leave. this bull had no legs what so ever on his right side. but he still managed to run about 50 yards into the push and then the best part of all... He ran back when i called him back.. for the final finishing shot.. Very very tough animal.. YOU never start cheering until these beasts stop moving. we all know the saying." never count your chickens before they hatch"

I sighted in my 30/30 yesterday for this falls upcoming moose hunt. The only screaming you’ll hear from me is if we make it into our spot to hunt. I’m certain with the amount of rain we’ve had this year the muskeg will not be kind.
