Default Best dry fly rod for small creek / streams?

What weight, length and model of fly rod is the best for dry fly fishing in small creeks / streams?

Thanks,

That's a loaded question!! 😋

You are going to get a bunch of different answers.

What size is the stream?

How tight are the trees/bushes stream side?

What size flies?

What size are the fish?

What's your experience/skill as a caster/angler?

What's your casting stroke like? Do you prefer fast action, medium/fast, medium or slow action rods?

What's the wind normally like?

All those questions aside, 8' - 9' 4 wt medium to medium/fast action would be my suggestion. Though 2 wt & 3 wt rods can a lot of fun, as well.

to OP: I have a Loop opti creek and it took me some time to get used to it, and find the right line, but once I did... I fish that rod more than anything else for trout at the moment.
