Default Something bizarro an arrow can do to bone.

How about this oddity? The arrow became the splint.

This is from the post I as it read on the website... Posted by a Robert Stegall on Bear Vintage Archery buy, sell and trade on facebook.

"So today is my 30th birthday and for a long time I've wanted this! My dad shot this deer several years ago when he dressed it out he found this! Someone shot the deer years prior, but it wasn't a fatal shot. It broke a few ribs and the arrow broke off, but it used the arrow as a splint and the bone growed around the shaft ( notice the Bear Razorhead)! Thanks dad for a great birthday gift!"

Very cool. It would not act as a 'splint' however. The arrow/extra bone would actually impede the ribs from moving as intended and that lung wouldn't work quite as well as before. Still, it shows how tough deer can be.
