New sticky thread idea

Maybe instead of having all kinds of individual threads about great deals in stores, maybe we should have one sticky thread.

The poster should tell when the sale is over unless clearance, and the mods could delete the posts that have expired deals.

Just a thought.

I quite like the idea, every time I post in the thread I have to search for. If it was a sticky the bargain hunters would find it easily. The down side to that is, does anyone pay attention to stickies.

Edit: Can a person subscribe to threads?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I do not think the mods need to delete deals that are done or people need to indicate a timeframe when they post a deal as all the posts are date stamped the reader has a pretty good idea if the deal is fresh or not.

Always good ideas for stickies, but isn't the purpose of sites like Red Flag Deals and such more effective for shoppers?

I know peeps would try and stay on outdoors items, yet it would likely just become another dumpsite post topic.

I believe there are more than enough sites that have 'deals' than to waste space on this sites servers.

Just my opinion.

People are asking for it.

We/you as outdoorsmen already have separate forums for:

Hunting
Guns and Ammo
Archery
Fishing
Fly Fishing
Trapping
Buy and Sell
plus all the Sponsored Vendor Pages

and then General, which is where YOU are posting. If you don't like general topics, feel free to move on. Nobody is holding you here against your will.

I just ripped through the last 50 pages of general and there certainly is no need for its own section. Good deal threads are far and few between.

Relax....It was his opinion and was not attacking the general forum...he had a valid point.

As another poster said, how many times do most check a stickie?

I think I might have looked at a sticky once, can't remember though.
I don't have an opinion on the matter, I don't have money for bargain hunting, if I need something I go buy it, if it's on sale when I need it, bonus!
But I don't look for "bargains" and then decide what I need.

This guy doesn't have drawers full of screwdriver sets that were on sale or more ratchet sets than he will ever need. I will admit, I am a sucker for a sale.
Once it gets below 50% off, I need it even if it is a spare for the spare's.

I know I like to see when someone posts a good deal on here that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. I know I wouldn't open a sticky to find a good deal though.

I am the same way. The whats for supper thread gets used a lot and I always check it out when someone posts. If it was a sticky I would probably forget about it. But as has been demonstrated a guy can subscribe to threads.

People that want a sticky thread check them. Is that wrong? AO Pony express for example has 165,000 views.
40x a year someone with a thousand or more replies in General about getting rid of General. I was pointing out the hypocrisy.
