Default Oilmans Shootout Update.

Thx Ultralite. I enjoy it very much. Here are the final results.

Ok.... This is the damage you did in 15 days. We capped it at 165 people and by the time I posted that I had 5 more Registrations in my Inbox. So we ended up with 170 Archers. During this time we gave away 1000$ dollars in Keg Cards, 3 Pairs Sitka Shooter Gloves, Nock On Hat's and a Wookie Wrist Sling. Here are the results.

MBR: 63
MBO:36
SM: 12
FBO: 6
FBR:15
SL: 4
Trad: 13
Youth: 21

Keep in mind you have to Shoot the course to receive the keg cards, prizes ect. If you know you can't make it please let us know by e-mail so other's can. Thank you all who registered. As my kids would say 117 more sleeps

Default Oilman's Registration.

First of all good luck to all the Archers going to the Mothers. Wish i could of been there but of course that thing called work got in the way this year.

After the Mother's weekend we will start putting groups together to make it go smoother come registration day. So if you are wanting to shoot with your buddy family ect please e-mail me at scjensen@hughes.net so we can start getting all that together. We will be running groups of 4 with the odd group of 5 and 3.
After each group is submitted i will be sending out e-mail to each Archer confirming the group with the archers names in your group.

If your a single archer please let me know or if there are 2 of you that want to shoot together let me know and i will join you with another twosome ect.

Thanks for all your help

Default Directions to camping spot.

Directions to camping spot from the South. Take Hwy 12 from Hwy 2 overpass, travel west 8.6 kms to Lincoln Rd, turn right (north), go 12.6 kms on Lincoln Rd to secondary Hwy 604, turn left go 3.2kms to RR 283, then left go .5kms turn right, then .4kms to turn in.

Directions to camping spot for the North. Take Hwy 53 from Hwy 2 overpass, travel west to Crestomere Store/School. Turn left on Lincoln road and travel 6 miles to secondary 604, turn right and go 3.2 kms to RR 283. Turn left and go .5 kms then turn right and go .4 kms to turn in.

The spots are on the left hand side just past the shop. If there are any problems with directions please call 403-350-1678. The camping spot is 5 miles from where the shoot will take place. It is on 5 acres. There are NO services there.

Also for anyone that wants to shoot a bit bigger arrow at the shoot we are allowing a 9.7mm arrow on the courses this year rather than a 9.3mm arrow.

I was wondering the same as it's my first ride as well....gatherings of so many would be great place for vendor or swap meet as well, but it would probably add a bit of chaos...curious about if a tech will be set up though...stay tuned hopefully we'll get the answer!

Vendors unlikely... but if you're having any issues, Techs will be everywhere - Just gotta ask The archery community seems very willing to help with any issues. Don't get out to many 3D shoots but they are a butt load of fun. Always great to meet AO'ers - Come on over and say hi, I'll be wearing a blue Lancaster shirt or Black "Nock On" shirt (Black Under Armour hoodie if the skies decide to leak) - My Avatar is from Shane's place last summer - fantastic host for the event!

Default Oilman's

There is nothing here to buy other than hamburgers and pop... Lol... There will be lots of people here that have great bow skills to help you along if needed. Yes I strongly suggest bringing extra arrows if it's your first shoot. It's not hard by any means but there are defiantly some shots that will test your skills. Will be a great time I am sure. Main thing is gave fun and enjoy yourself. See ya there.

Great shoot guys! Was nice to see some old friends and meet some forum members.

Looking forward to the next one....

Big props to the organizers to split the charity between Samaritans Purse and for the young local girl who needs to have a surgery completed in the US that isn't covered here....really stand up thing to do!

Sure was a great time !! My first 3D shoot. Lefty Thanks for all the pointers , greatly appreciated, we used your pointers on a few thats for sure. I sure would like to send my thanks to the Organizers , it must be a lot of work to set up and put everything away. I think i am hooked now and not just an occasional arrow flinger.
Great bunch of people there and we learned a lot....hope to make the Dual Cam shoot.

Great shoot!! Got to see lots of archery friends and chat awhile. Might have to bring "Mike" the arrow dog next year! Had a few requests for his help finding arrows. There were definitely a few left for seed. Excellent effort, Shane. Well run and very challenging courses. Terrific prizes! Can't wait til next year.

Default 2014 Oilman's Results.

After the dust settled we were able to raise $13,187 for 2 different charity this year. We always give our proceeds to the Samaritans Purse Of Canada for the Bio-Water filter systems so they too can have clean water to drink but this year we split up the proceeds to help a little girl from Wetaskiwin to help with her much needed costs for her surgery she needs to get done.

Just want to say thank you all who attended and supported our shoot. I think we had a 155 Archers in total attend out of the 165 registered. We gave away 5 bows and 1000's$ of dollars in prizes. Here are the final scores. Thank you all very much again Sponsors and archers.

Default Few more pics

A tough downhill shot at a bedded ram....the picture doesn't really show how steep it was....

My furry kids came along for the walk

A tight shot at a standing polar bear....tough to judge distance with such a narrow window!

Can you make out the bear in the pic?
