Around Provost, Wainwright , Consort areas, I would keep them in your pocket for a couple years, some big guys...not many, made it thru' last year. I f you are looking for a big one ( aren't we all). I would wait, I have priority as well, and will 999 this year to let them come back. This winter wher in the past 10 years in February in there wintering yards we used to see 200+, this year it was 20-25, good news is they were all fat and healthy, will see what the fawn crop looks like.....as usual Mother Nature took care of the problem that the Bio's couldn't understand....

Numbers are way down and don't let anybody tell you different. If you don't believe me just call up any of the bodyshops in that area and ask them how many deer collision repairs they have done lately in comparison to the last 10 years. Good news is last winter was mild hopefully they rebound.

#S are down, but there are still deer around. Put in your time and you should still be able to get a decent buck

Hunted Provost area in 2010 both smokepole and rifle. Was night and day from 2008! There was still does around but 4-600 buck tags a season takes a toll fast!! I heard it was even worse after the winter dieoff of 2010/11. I'm sure the gov't will get the #'s to rebound as fast as they decimated that area........Wishful thinking I guess!

Numbers are down in the east county, and they have been dropping for years. Handing out doe tags like they have been for years and hunters more than happy to use them has really taken it's toll. Surprisingly enough, the last couple of tough winters wasn't nearly as hard on the mule deer as it was on the whitetails, but their numbers are still decimated and will be a long time coming back if the numbers of tags given out is continued. Spent a couple weeks hunting elk out east last fall where I have hunted every year since I was a kid and was pretty amazed at the lack of deer, mule and whitetail alike. Pretty sad what they have done.

If you mean "Donalda" I can save you some time. The numbers are way down. I drew my mule deer buck tag for 2011...and I still have it in my back pack. I spent 2 weeks in that area...(WMU 204 and WMU 228, as a friend had his draw for that area)...and we both came up empty. We did see a few does, which is a good thing, but only a couple small bucks. Spikes and fork horns.

I drive highway 41 north to Oyen from Medicine Hat fairly regularly. Keep your points and save the tag ............ numbers are brutally low compared to the past.

I have hunted WMU 200 for the last 15 years and have never seen the deer numbers so low. Biggest Mulie I saw last year around 160, between the multiple tags and the harsh winter the year before last It could take a while, or prehaps a miracle for the big ones to roam there again
