Or...the far right could wake up and realize it's a really dumb idea and complete waste of taxpayers money that won't change a thing.

Heard the same thing... Trump's fund was at around 500K and the Ladder fund was at about 60 K .

Don’t know enough of their situation with the Mexico border so can’t comment if it’s a waste or not. But I have heard enough to know the present system with the Mexico border is not working

One thing I do know is the extremes from both left and right are often idiots

The government will just hire a bunch of Mexicans to build the wall anyway, they will build known week spots or gates were they can cross.

When Israel built the wall with Gaza, the illegal crossing almost disappeared. Yes, they are digging tunnels and trying to get into Israel thru the sea border but those crossings are easy to detect. The wall helped tremendously.

I concur, just like protecting your house or vehicles there's only so much you can do. You want to weed out the easy ones and big caravans from crossing.

How does everyone have it all figured out when details haven't been released yet? I'm pretty sure when they design it, long ladders were takin into consideration. And tunneling is for smuggling Weed, Meth and Heroine, WAY more profit and the U.S.B.P already have a dedicated tunnel
team.

We need a wall too to stop the influx of ILLEGAL (not irregular, ILLEGAL) economic migrant boarder jumpers coming north from the States, invited via a Tweet by you know who

Default wall

It could be a good business opportunity for Mexicans, Renting aluminum ladders at the wall. You would have to move your business location quite
often though but profit when caravan comes through would be enormous $$.

The U.S. - Mexico border is roughly as long as the distance from Hay River, NWT to San Diego, CA., and longer than from Vancouver to Thunder Bay if you prefer to think east-west.

Think about that for a minute.

The West Bank Barrier is roughly the distance from Hay River NWT to Peace River, AB., or Calgary to Regina.

This whole notion of a wall is about the "right" contractors (and their political benefactors) doing very, very nicely at the expense of the U.S. taxpayers.

There's no way in hell anybody is going to seal off a border that long, wall or no wall, and I don't care how high it is.

I wonder if the Chinese had this problem when they built their wall?

Once the wall is built, will it be visible from outer space?

I suppose anything's possible if you have enough rocks, enough slave labor, and enough soldiers to stand shoulder to shoulder along the top of it.

China did, apparently. One thing they were never short of was people; they could make new ones faster than they could work the old ones to death.

So this is just a different scale. Israel a very small country with a limited budget but still were able to build the wall.
The US has way more money and resources at their disposal. Are you worried about the contractors making money building the fence? Are you worrying about the contractors getting rich building the pipeline in Canada too?
The wall might cost $5 bil, the illigal migration cost them $15 billions!

I wonder how many legal points of entry there are into Israel though. Being that the vast majority of illegal aliens and illegal drugs enter the U.S. through the many legal points of entry, and that more are leaving the U.S. than coming the other way, I'd still call this "proposed" wall, if it ever gets built, a colossal waste of money. Won't accomplish much other than to provide a very nice graffiti backdrop.

I wonder what it currently costs per year to patrol the border? I would think the wall would pay for itself at some point.

If Trump builds a wall, they will build a tunnel under America to Canada. Trudeau will offer to pay for it. Ten years later they will figure out it would have been cheaper to fly them in gratis........

The Great Wall of China was not built on mostly flat American and Mexican kinda territory. Also had towers strategically placed at points of possible invasion. Berlin wall was still compromised at certain points. What a joke TRUMP. Nice try. Time to hit the big buck WHAMMY button on this one

Why are you saying that the vast majority of illigal drugs and aliens entering thru the legal border crossings? What’s the point? Why would they risk of been detected by dogs, agents, X-ray machines etc if they can just swim across the River and get picked up by a truck and be gone! The cost of patrolling the wall would be by far less than then the unprotected territory. The wall can have sensors, cameras, night vision cameras, observation towers with guards and the scores of other equipment capable of detecting illigal activities.
Saying that the Mexicans can bring in the ladder is the same as saying that escaping from max security jail can be done the same way.

As much as I hate the Berlin Wall - it worked. Yes they were shooting at people who were trying to climb it. But without the wall half of eastern Germany would’ve escaped west( or perhaps even all of eastern Germany).
The cost of building the wall is a small fraction of what the illigal migration costs.
It is also making the crowd control much easier in case of a large caravans like the ones we saw recently. Take a look at what was going on in Europe when the hordes of migrants were storming across the borders! They simply couldn’t be stopped without use of deadly force(live ammo) that none of the countries were ready to deploy.
