Exactly... I sometimes wonder if that's what happened to the Stamps the last couple of years.

Exactly. He doesn’t seem to get to the high scoring areas of the ice, like he did
With his previous teams. He is a sniper, but needs to be set up, to be successful.

Something that needs to be discussed.
Just how epic is Sam Bennetts moustache?
Do we have Lanny 2.0 here? Is this the next step in the evolution of the Brent Burns beard?
I have to say, I am a bit jealous. If he makes a impact in the playoffs, this will be huge.

His mustache is what gives him Super Powers to make big open ice hits, like he did on Nurse, and that Goomba from the Sharks who wasn't paying attention.
It must be cultivated. Sammy is our secret weapon for playoffs, like Ferland was. My humble prediction.

I think thats EXACTLY who he will be. Might be interesting to get Ferland back as well. Not sure how he was in the dressing room though.

We’d be eating money....colour me stupid, but I still have hope for Neal. HE might be our playoff secret weapon.

He was good in the playoffs last year. But he was also good during the regular season last year to a degree. This year not so much. I'd love to think that some magic Score switch is going to get flipped in his head for playoffs.....but he sure hasn't given me much confidence so far. And I agree with Jamie, I've also spent time watching him specifically when he is on the ice. He likes to skate in big circles and then go back to the bench a lot. Last night, his assist on Bennet's goal (?) was the first time in a while I've seen him do something productive on the ice.

Thought it was interesting today on 960 fan . They were discussing what the Flames could do before trade deadline . With the top line and Giordano having career seasons, is this the year you go for it all. They mentioned the flames first round pick (with maybe more) and put names like Mark Stone or Matt Duchene to get . Or leave as is , or just a tweak move .

That is one serious cookie duster, I hope the team all grows them for the playoffs instead of traditional beards haha.

Was really hoping, for more reasons than one, that Pittsburgh would beat the Sharks last night. Guess Vegas lost, but I feel the Sharks are the much bigger threat between the two.

He's under the gun now though Lucic got 2 goals the other night to tie him with 4 on the season. Neal needs to start potting a few or he will be behind, and at his current clip, he can't afford to miss any opportunities....

There is a lot of regular season hockey left to play. Making predictions at this point is optimistic, speculative, or delusional...depending on what your prediction is. Better to just cheer like hell and watch it play out. Flames need another Win tonight!

Calgary is having an epic season and Gaudreau a career year, but it will be interesting to see how effective he is when he attracts the same attention McDavid got from the other teams in the 2016/17 playoffs. And without Johnny free wheeling, Monahan and Lindholm will also be effected. I agree that Neale will be your sleeper and if heaven forbid Calgary wins the cup Rittich or Flapchuk will be your MVP.

Rittich gets the start. BSD!!!!
Neal is eating Popcorn as a healthy scratch. Perhaps this wills top the lazy circles. He has looked pathetic and seems to have quit trying. Perhaps he can tae over from one of the ice girls who shovel the snow? At least they skate North/South....
Neal is starting to climb into my hate category as much as Smith.

You think teams try harder against the Oilers because of McDavid than they do against Tampa, Calgary, Winnipeg, etc.?
Johnny may not take it from him, but I bet somebody will.

Really too bad....5+ million is a tough pill for a popcorn eater...may have to attach an attractive prospect to deal him

Not the Oilers as a whole but McDavid, yes. On Monday the Eichel line was much better than the McDavid line. We won because of secondary scoring and that hasn't happened much this year.
Imagine your Flames with Lindholm's and Thachuk's production. Johnny, Monahan and Backlund would be equal to McDavid, Draisaitl, and Nuge. The Oilers don't have a Thachuk or Lindholm and no defense production of any of kind to speak of.
That is why I said that in the rare chance of a cup win, Johnny won't be the MVP (Hart Trophy). How effective will Johnny be with Getzlaf molesting him like he did to McDavid 2 years ago? (if the Ducks make the playoffs)

It's just the trying harder against McDavid thing I find off, the rest, I don't necessarily disagree with, but don't think its relevant.
Maybe I misunderstood you, but I just don't see Crosby skating at 100% when McDavid is out there vs 90% when it's just MacKinnon and Rantanen.

According to Flames app projected lineup Neal is out because of illness not healthy scratch.
