Default German made MarkV 240 weatherby mag

I just bought a weatherby 240 mag that was made in Germany. I would like to know if anyone has an idea of what yr or yrs these were made over there. Also feel free to chime in on this caliber likes and dislikes. I did get 200 pieces of empty brass and dies so I'm ready to rock and roll. I just love guns that go fast and don't bite back that much.

If you pm me your email i'll snd you a pdf from weatherby that has all the serial number data you want.

The 240 is an awesome little cannon! They are fast and can be very accurate. I have found they can also be very finnicky to load for.

I think from about 1968-1977ish

I have a LH .240 also made in Germany. Take it out of the stock and see if the stock is serial numbered to the gun....only rifles I have seen them do this on.

.240wby is fun but the most finicky rifle I have ever loaded for....my has one and says the same thing. They crush deer really well though!

The buddy I was referring to posted just before I did above LOL.

I think I may have just found one of my issues with the .240wby I was having reloading for it.

The neck sizing die I have from RCBS is putting approx 7 thou of run out or more! into the brass due to a misshaped expander!

That one is going back to RCBS....only noticed when I measure runout of a fired case then neck sized and measured again.....could actually see the flaw on the expander with the naked eye!

Arrrrgh.....

Default German Weatherby

There is much to be said about Weatherby Mark V Rifles, let alone a German Made one.
Hang onto that one, well built and becoming more and more collectable over the years.
Good choice!

Yah and I started checking every step....found the issue. Swapped the expander with my full length die and bingo!

Found my new favourite piece of reloading equipment....run out gauge.

Thanks for all the info. I sure hope I don't start pulling out my hair trying to get this baby to shoot straight.
