Arrow everyone needs to watch this video

check out this video. Totally changes the way I think about scope mounting and basically eliminating parallax errors.

How did you mount them before?
from what I saw, it's basic scope mounting.
Your head must be in the same position each time, and the scope must be mounted where your eye is positioned, not your eye where the scope is set.

I think it's a great video. I've always mounted them so I get a nice clear picture when i shoulder the rifle. Never have I purposefully mounted them so I get a "vignette". I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for the link!

That's what I'm kinda gettin at. I, and most likely the mojority of shooters here, haven't mounted our scopes in the way to achieve the black ring.

Thanks for sharing the link. The setup that she talks about is very much similar to how you setup and use a device called a "No Peep" or "Anchor Sight" on a bow....

I might give this a try, not really keen on losing any field of view on a hunting rifle but on the bench I think it could be a handy thing to do.

It is what I have been doing for years. Nice to see that I have been doing something right.

That's my only apprehension is losing my FOV! I guess it depends on what you want more, zero parallax or field of view

To me, it seems like an option for avoiding parallax error in a fixed objective scope and or saving time by not having to dial out the error with an adjustable objective scope. Not really an issue for most hunters or target shooters in my opinion, but what ever works for ya.

No thanks. I want a clear full picture the mminute I shoulder the rifle and the stock toutches my face, with no black rings that I have to move my head around for..

Have to consider the source of the info....she is a target shooter so its a game of a fraction of an inch (or less) to her.....

I can't see this being practical on a hunting rifle, benchrest maybe....I am going to try it and see.

You git it lefty.I see guys all the time squirming to see thru a scope after the gun shop mounted it for them and set it to suit the guy with the screw driver, not the shooter.

Exactly. It is why I yawn when people jaw about the need for parallax adjustable scopes.

Can't imagine a need for it under 10x, but the side focus on my leupy 4.5-14 and 6.5-20 are gold when focusing in on little bulls at various ranges, I likely would never buy a higher than 10x mag scope without the focus wheel, the non AO 4.5-14 I tried was terrible, shooting 500 plus with no adjust sucked, blurry....preferred a 3-9x33 ultralite out to 700

Good vid, thanks for posting

It is also why the Leopoldo 3.5-10x40 and 6x36 are my favorite scopes.

Ryan Cleckner's has a pretty good tutorial on the subject. I purchased a similar cheek rest after watching his video. it works very well. http://goo.gl/PU5Gj

For straight up hunting, u sure don't need to go past 10x, for varmint rigs or guys like to shoot lots, long range etc. There r lots of apps for higher mag scopes than majority big game...agree though, don't need focus adjust 10x or less.

It would help our cause if more women shooting athletes, hunters & spokespersons were interviewed by the mainstream media.
