My Dad's 30 year old Bear compound. 55 pound pull with a 3 pin sight. No peep, but deadly out to 25 yards.

Well, I sent a welding rod into a light bulb in the top of the landlord's quonset. Used a stake for the bow, put a hole in it as the rest, and a one inch wide slice from an inner tube launched the thing as the "string". The Mexican hired hand's kids helped me out with that....then ratted me out
Improved the technologies and manufacturing process and started launching dad's old arrows from plastic tubing with electric fence wire (that twine stuff with the metal thread wound in it) looped through the tube with a bend in it to give it the "poundage".
Since then I've pretty much only used the school's genesis bows and borrowed a compound from a family member.
Just got my first real bow... 2014 Bowtech Experience. Don't even have it all set up yet. Can't wait to get my first archery big game animal with it. Hopefully that elk I called in last season but didn't have a tag for....

Being new to archery I got my first bow two years ago and it was a Quest Rev. Traded it to an AO forum member and hopefully it worked as well for him as it did for me.

Default thread hijack alert!

Sorry for the hijack, but not sorry enough to stop from posting
I am just excited about taking my bow to the targets for the first time.
Started at 63lbs and turned it up a bit at a time between groups...
Started to really close things up at 70lbs (didn't measure yet, went according to manual, Bowtech tested it at 73.8 so I should be good)
Noticed I need to move the peep up a bit; I was using poor form when it was put in. I focused on good form and didn't use the peep to test the idea...results in first photo
Shot these standing at 20m on three separate targets. I really don't want to wreck an arrow -> too costly at this point!

used 20 pin standing at 20m without using the peep sight

closer look of that...needless to say, I am thrilled with my new bow

used the peep with the 40 pin (hasn't moved since out of package), adjusted aiming point for the 3rd shot - nailed center

let's try this 40 pin again; still liking it!

I believe mine was a Canadian made compound bow back in the 80's. 70lbs draw. Still was very fast. There was no 75% let off...more like 10% let off. lol

Default First bow

My first ever bow was a 5lb fibreglass recurve from sears when I was 6 that had the gophers looking over their shoulders. My first true hunting bow was a PSE "Lightning Flite II" compound - heavy as a tank compared to today's engineering marvels!'

Default First Bow

The first bow that I ever owned was a bow I made by cutting a branch of a willow tree and using baling twine for a string when I was 10. I made several of these until my step dad bought me a Ben Pearson fibreglass recurve when I was 12. At 16, I bought a Proline Zephyr and had it until my apartment was broken into when I was in my first year of university. I then bought a Bear Whitetail II for $50 at a pawn shop. I shot that bow until the riser failed three years later and replaced it with a Jennings Starmaster. I shot the Starmaster until I sold it 4 years ago when I picked up my Bowtech Admiral. I still shoot it as my 3D rig. I also have two trad bows and a Hoyt Contender Elite that I use for target.
