I noticed this thread is much quieter than last years shed thread.
I am hoping to get out and start checking some cams this weekend and was wondering if anyone has seen dropping antlers yet on cams.

I just spoke with a land owner around Calgary area and he believes he saw a group of bucks yesterday with a few shed bucks already, Was not 100% sure they were all bucks though. Same land I have a few cams on so I will hopefully have more info if i get the time to check them this weekend.

Would be surprised if they were However, As last year most were holding until end of march on this property.

Been watching my cams closely as the last few years lots had dropped by now in our area but this year only 3 bucks on my cams have shed so far. I take that as a sign that they are in good shape this year.
Have found 1 deer and 2 moose sheds so far.

My girls were out in the back trees on our acreage today and found a shed from spring 2015. Not a bad 4 point for our area.

Got out and had a great morning checking cams today. Found them all in the same field. If you look close in the first pic you can see the matched set in the background.

Dates aren't set correctly but here are two of about 4-5 bucks on this camera still sporting headgear in the last few days. Any age guesses on these guys?? I don't believe they have peaked quite yet.

As I do every year, I have my cameras out on supplemental food sources since the end of hunting season...trying to see what "made it through" the hunting season and also to see how the herd is making it through the winter.
In past years where heavy snowfall and extreme cold come early, I start finding the first few sheds the week before Christmas. From that point forward, I will consistently find them...with the bulk of them being found mid-January thru mid-February.
In a year like this one, I usually find it much tougher to find good numbers of sheds...which is not a bad thing as it means the local herd is having an easier winter. Lack of snow and plenty of re-growth in the field means the deer are much more mobile and less concentrated on any particular food source. Therefore, there is less chance of finding a high concentration of sheds as the local bucks are not spending the bulk of their time grouped up in a small, concentrated area (example: a farmer's bale yard).
The shedding process definitely is starting later this year...
I have a camera on one food source and have identified 14 different, recognizable bucks that come in to "top up" on their dietary requirements. These 14 are compromised of three "1.5 yr old", three "2.5 yr old", and 8 mature bucks (3.5+ years). As of Friday (the last time I pulled the SD card from the game cam), NOT ONE of them has shed an antler yet.

I'm in WMU 510.
After checking cams yesterday there is now 4 bucks that have shed their antlers out of approximately 70-80 bucks I have on cam. I am very fortunate in that my line of work, I deal with lots of farmers and quite a few of them let me put cameras up in their yard.
I'm also lucky because I have found antlers from 3 of the 4 bucks that have shed.

Interesting! That means they should also start here fairly soon...as I am geographically slightly more NW than you Boonie. I am in a similar situation...I keep real close tabs on the 4 properties I historically hunt and figure there are 60-70 bucks in total. But as of Friday...still no "pedicel heads"! And as I stated earlier, that is definitely not the norm here...

The deer that have shed so far, have they been all whitetail? Or has anyone seen any mule deer drop yet?

I dont think these are old deer by any means. They have a pretty light frame on antlers still. Body wise its hard to tell as I dont have alot of experience seeing them in this time of year. That being said they dont look particularly "square" my guess would be almost 4 maybe 3

My brother sent me pictures of a 130-ish whitetail set that he had just found in central AB. They're starting to drop them now.

Saw two wt bucks smashing antlers still yesterday evening, half dozen mule bucks sitting in the middle of the field still with headgear and a bull moose also still packing. This warm weather here in central ab doesn't seem to be helping with things very much at all!

Got out this weekend for a couple hours and came up with these 3. Majority of bucks are still holding but should start dropping soon.
