Default After 11pm on the Bow River

The big browns come out after dark. Caught this one last night, good fight. He took my hook close to shore, as the browns usually do. I think this is my best catch from the bow this year. This one I estimate at 26" - 4lbs. I don't carry a scale or tape, so I'm guessing.

Hey guys, what part of the bow is the easies to access after 11? The only one I tried was the dog park near southland and I alsmost had my face bit off my about 20 dogs lol! Apparently carrying a rod around late at night frightens dogs whose owners take them out for walks in the middle of the night...LOL.
Spot ideas? I was thinking Glenmore at the bridge but im not sure what the bite is like there.

i have also fished the bow after 11pm and had a great time up until this once incident. i went to move to another spot and came close to stepping on a pile of poop which ended up close to one of my feet when i stepped down. then with what ever amount of light i notice this "pile of poop" started to uncoil as i realize it was a friggen snake. i am sure it was a harmless grass snake or something but just the initial image in the dark and the fear of the little bugger crawling up my pant leg freaked me out. only been back to that spot during the day haven't been back after 11pm since. lol yes i know chicken s**t hahahaha

Under the Glenmore bridge is pretty good at night, it's got enough light from the street so it's not pitch dark and there's some wicked pools there. Plus it's easy to park and access.

I usually fish the near the 22x bridge or the southern most bridge before dunbow rd.

Nailed 2 more last night, this one might top my record out of the bow.

I don't fly fish. I've used all sorts of spinners over the years, and have had great success with panther martins, but the rapalas always seem to produce bigger fish.

Hell ya! Fantastic Fish. I had a bud in New Zealand this springs, catch a bunch of 5 lbers, and seen lots of 10 +. Very smart fish though, wasnt able to trigger a strike.

If anyone ever catches a 10lber from the bow, I'll only believe it if I see it. ;-)

I don't know how much the weighed but my biggest fish from the bow were a 27 inch brown and a 29 inch rainbow, brown was on a size 16 caddis and rainbow was on a jig. Biggest fish I have ever seen out of the bow was a 34 inch brown, it was caught on a streamer.

Start fly fishing and get down to the bottom in some deep holes and you will believe.

thanks for the fly tip, I was just looking at a setup today, but don't have the cash right now. I do have a lot of flys that I've collected over the years.

I would say that does qualify, beauty fish there.

But It's not a brown. ;-)

nice fish. you fish the Bow enough and you'll learn there's many big fish that swim her waters. i've had some brake offs on some pretty heavy test line that leave you heart broken and in awe. fuel to keep you coming back and dipping in for more.
