Awesome that the RCMP could be of such great assistance. Since when is it ok for members of the public, including special interest groups, to invade and occupy private property? There are many who support defending same at any cost almost daily in this forum.
I assume they knew that Hutterites being peaceful people they wouldn't put up much resistance. Generally speaking you'll rarely even see a dog, let alone one with a bad attitude on a Hutterite colony. I'd love to see them try this trick with some landowners I know.
I've been in some of the colony poultry operations and compromising these biohazard zones is very serious business. This stupidity could jeopardize an entire operation and for that there should be major consequences.
These idiots should be subjected to deep anal probes, blood and scat samples taken and analyzed, and if there is one shred of evidence pointing to the ingestion of meat at any time in their pathetic lives, their faces and hypocrisy should be splashed across the front pages of every newspaper in the country in an act of public shaming. They need to learn that they do NOT speak for the majority and never will.
I can't wait for our publicly funded left wing media cretins to paint this in a positive light as they always do. If any of these activists are transgender its guaranteed to be major news.
Breaking news....it was a Monday. Why weren't any of you wastes of skin working?

The activists should go down to Texas, they have pig barns filled with pigs that need rescuing. Hell we can take up a collection and send them there.
RCMP once again prove their uselessness. Coach someone to give into extortion, sounds about right. In there mind no one got hurt, no one got charged so it all worked out.

So with the RCMP present, trespassers were allowed to leave the colony with stolen property and have not faced any charges yet? What if it was 5 cows or 5 horses? How is this ok?

What use are the RCMP, if they won't remove trespassers from private property, and they actually encourage extortion? The trespassers should all have been arrested, and taken away in handcuffs.

Paper Shufflers. Someone has to keep track, so the politicians can reassure us , all is well.

What a crock of ***** I can’t believe these losers are getting away with this. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I’m gonna enjoy a nice fat juicy farm raised Turkey smothered in gravy made from the juicy drippings from this very turkey while these low life scumbags have some dry flaky store bought Tofu. I wish we could find out where this sanctuary was and wait for them to release these 5 into the wild. Have a block and an axe set up and a generator with a plucker ready to rock. And butcher their precious turkeys right before their eyes. Oh wait we would probably get arrested for that but it’s ok for what they just did and got away with. WTF

another feel good story about the RCMP enabling criminals
I second the pig barn suggestion. They should be taken on a tour of a large hog operation. It would be considerably more effective than calling the RCMP to negotiate with activists and then provide them with a free pass to continue their criminal activity.
Trespassing and theft with the assistance of our good old RCMP?

RCMP complied with the second demand or negotiating point that none of the activists inside the turkey barn be arrested and charged.
The third demand, which was also met, was that five turkeys be released into the care of the activists.
Soooo ??? now terrorist can come on to your property and demand you give them stuff or they won't leave and the RCMP are encouraging this.....
To serve and protect.....as long as we don't have to get our hands dirty...Shameful......

Just got off the phone with both my MLA and MP (well their offices). I suggest everyone do the same. This story needs to be blown up. This has to get big, really big.

It's the ft McLeod rcmp.
Why didn't they bring out the syncronised horse show?
It's got to be just as effective as the rest of their crime fighting techniques.

Window tint, mudflaps and photo radar are more important... stolen turkeys cost money and don’t generate a dime.
All the activists need to be charged with theft and extortion.

Now that I've thought about it, maybe this compromise was put forth by the hutterites.
They are a religous based commune, so maybe they were "turning the other cheek" as the bible directs them to.

They say in the interview that they listened to the advice of the RCMP to compromise rather than forcefully remove them for trespassing.

Has anyone heard what Jason Kenney has to say about this? It isn't oil, but for all the effort he's putting into promoting "Alberta is open for business" you would think he wouldn't stand for this(unlike Notley who would have welcomed them with open arms).
I agree with the above post that everyone should contact their MP/MLA and escalate this quickly before it becomes an everyday occurrence. Unreal that no one was arrested due to once again it being a "special interest group", discraceful......

I wish I lived closer to where this happened. I would gladly offer my "security services" free of charge to them. No turkeys would have left the premises.

Next time a bunch of activists show up on a farm, maybe the workers could just take a few minutes break to escort them to the property line instead of calling the police? Drag them by the pantleg if need be...

This is wrong on so many levels!

Sorry to any current or former members, but the RCMP stopped being useful decades ago. They should be disbanded and reformed as they currently are as useful as...fill in the blank.

Email I sent my MLA Dale Nally - Associate Minister Natural Gas and MP - we seem to be making lot of Natural Gas lately.
Quote:
Re Hutterite Colony Invaded by Animal Rights Group - Just read this story. Hard working, peaceful farmers abused and held to ransom on their own property. RCMP in attendance do not remove protesters and do not charge them with any of the offenses they committed. This is one more in a long list of the RCMP failing to protect rural owners from crime. Maybe we need to look at getting rid of the RCMP and expanding the Sheriff’s department because this is eventually going to get real ugly. The RCMP have gone from a highly respected organisation to being a total joke. They either need to be held to account or we need a better police service protecting us!
|
I suggest everyone email your MLA and UCP MP. RCMP need to be cleaned up or booted out. This is past ridiculous.

Very good, yet just making a statement has limited effect.
As a suggestion, be sure to ask a question and request that they answer it.
This makes the office take some action (respond to you), which will hopefully create some momentum.

How could we start a movement to buy Hutterite Turkeys for Thanks giving and Christmas, and fly it in the face of these bastards?

If a struggle had broken out in the barn and the RCMP started to forcefully detain people, what would that impact been on the birds in the barn? What if the use of pepper spray was required? I think this may have been the most peaceful resolution for the colony to secure the lively hood of the birds.
Now if they brought disease in and the birds start dying or are stressed and lose weight I think they should sew for punitive damages.
