Fly tying material

What is a good place to order fly tying material on line.
Also what is a good place in Edmonton for fly fishing products.
I didn’t go to city much and I can’t get material in my town but if I do go to Edmonton like to go to good place.

The "Fishin' Hole", is about the best there is in Edmonton for fly fishing products.

Reid's Fly Shop (west end) also has good stuff, but limited inventory.

All depends on what you're looking for.

Forget Cabela's. Mostly entry level stuff. In transition after Bass Pro bought them out. A few dribs and drabs of Bass Pro stuff, but still waiting for the full meal deal.

I get almost all of my tying materials from this one ebay store called Hardydeluxe. Cheap combined shipping and great selection of all things fly tying. Excellent quality materials too.

Because I like to "see" and "touch" the fly tying materials that I buy, I mostly buy locally.

For some of your supplies try posting on the hunting forum and ask if bird hunters could save you a couple pheasant and grouse skins. Elk, moose and deer hunters could save you a square foot of hide for hair. Buy one small beaver or a muskrat skin at Halford's or a tannery for lots of dubbing.
And on a long shot you could ask at a pet store if they have any colorful loose feathers. Parrots and other birds do molt. Probably free. Then you only need to buy the other tying supplies.

Agreed. A bead is a bead is a bead. And price is almost always an issue.
But for hackle, dubbing, chenille, fur, marabou, etc., I like to pick thru the packages for what I consider the best available. Can't do that when buying online.

Hooks, well, once I find a brand that I like I pretty much stick to them, although I still have (and use) Mustad hooks, but try to use what I consider "better" hooks.

One thing about the net, the world is your oyster when it comes to tying supplies. There are dozens of suppliers of materials in the US, a few dozen more in England/Scotland. Watching some vids on You Tube such as Davie Mcphail, Phil Rowley and Brian Chan, Mak flies, In the Riffle, Jim Misiura, BC Flyguys, Skip Morris, Kelly Galloup, Gary Hanke, will give you ideas and you can get see how many different materials there are out there to accomplish whatever you want to do. Many companies make the same stuff with perhaps some different colour combos than others, call it something exotic, but is essentially the same thing as the other guy is selling.
Have a look at Semperfli, Veniard, Spirit River, Hook n Hackle, Fishient, Flybox UK for a few to start with.
