Nice gun for sure. Almost makes a guy wish he was into blackpowder too. Since I'm not but do have a TC prohunter 25.06 in the mail I was wondering what kind of base and rings are on your triumph and would they work on a ceneterfire barrel as well. Thompson used to send a base with the gun - do they still do that?

Wayne, the same base fits all the Encores, Omegas and the Triumph. T/C hasn't sent a base with any of mine.

Sheephunter,

What are your thoughts on the receiver? They say that it's alloy, but feels more like space age polymer to me aka- Plastic.

Even if it was plastic I am sure it is fine, just the idea of plastic on a firearm that I am not a fan of.

Definitely not plastic...it just has a weathershield coating over it that I guess gives it a different appearance than standard metal. But there's no plastic that I know of in the receiver area. The guns are definitely new so I guess the long term durability remains to be seen but I love the look and feel.

Yes Wayne...it's a T/C base purchased seperately but I do remember the old days when they included the aluminium bases but this one is steel and those are Warne rings.

Thanks sheep & 209, that looks like a solid setup. P&D or Wholesale should have them in edmonton, I'm going to look into it - happy shootin'.

Yes it is a 50. Can't take credit for the ginger bread house...well other than eating it!

Cool. I was just checking them out on the TC website. I like the idea of the gas rings on the speed breech. That should save a bit of the time it takes to clean those threads with a toothbrush.

Ya it might but I'm still a Pyrodex and not a T7 shooter so I suspect clean up will be pretty much the same. That stuff seems to get everywhere.

Sheep:

Does this mean the .270 WSM is further in the future or do you like buying weapons in pairs?

Naw, this one loads from the front....still lots more room for ones that load from the rear....lol Heck, I also came into possesion of an .30TC Icon in the meantime. I'm going to wait until I get to shoot that X-Bolt in February before I decide on the .270WSM but with those Tikkas falling in price, they are getting enticing.
