Default How Was Your May Long Weekend?

This has got to be one of the nicest May long weekends I can remember In years. Seems that in the past we have had bad weather (including snow), on a regular bassis. Hope everyone had a enjoyable and safe weekend.
I stayed around the home as I do most weekends when things are busy on the roads, parks and lakes. Did get some serious yard work done however.

Busy, busy. Shooting gong straightened and rewelded after it was froze down when I moved it with the tractor. Fences fixed and gates closed. New winch on the quad. Garden rotor tilled and two planter boxes built. Looking forward to work tomorrow. I need a rest. Lol.

Nice and quiet!
Unlike last year with 2, 15 hour days while dealing with callouts from work.

Went nowhere special, did a bit of bbqing, visited with a few good friends.

Total R & R!

We went to lake to open the site for summer the weather was excellent. A few showers now and then, some scary looking and sounding storms were close but never hit us.
BBQ'd steaks on the deck, sat around the fire a good weekend was had by all.
Minor problem
Another lesson in trailering
When I tried to close the low point drain on trailer it shattered in my hand I couldn't put water in the tank until I plugged it up. After a campsite wide search involving a few beer stops I found a 5/8 bolt to shove in the drain hose.

One more trick in the trailing handbook.

Did some yard work with my beautiful wife, took my 10 year old son shooting at the range (he shot the .223 for the first time and loved it!), took the kids to Seba beach to cool off and generally just had a great time at home doing low-key things. Sure needed the nice weather after such a wet muddy spring.

Wow, are you from Rocky Mountain house? We also planted the garden. Fixed tons of fence. Cleared a lot of deadfall and cut firewood. Bought the boy an early birthday gift (Suzuki 50 quad) fantastic weekend overall.

Went fishing on Great Slave.

The first two days were cool and damp. Lots of ice on the lake, only one bay had enough open water for boat fishing.

But we had a blast and the last day was clear and sunny. I had limited out so I spent the morning shooting birds. We packed up at noon and headed south.

Stopped for fuel in Hay River and got to talking to a group of young ladies who had been fishing just down the lake from where we were.

For me, the icing on the cake was a Whooping Crane that seems to have chosen our fishing hole as it's home.

Brother even saw what I suspect, was an Eider duck. Wish I had seen it or that he had take pictures of it, but he's no interested in that.

The problem with doing nothing is you never know when you're done.

More directional falling of trees at the stump ranch

About 1/3 of them cut into 13' lengths so a friend can haul them away.
I think I was a beaver inn a previous life!!
Cat

Nice quiet evenings though!

Couple of RZR rides with the kids and wife and the inlaws in the east Kootenays. Zipped down to Montana to buy some material to finish the halfpipe in the backyard. Then home for soccer tonight. No rest for the wicked.

Thumbs up

Played with my Grandson, met and held my fresh new grandson, got my boat out of the garage finally and almost have it ready for Rupert next week, sold my big enclosed trailer, cleaned out the seacan, got the tiller and mower on the JD, took wifey to town for lunch today and bought a drone for a very nice man.

Not a single fire or rescue call.

It was a good weekend.

Went walleye fishing on Friday with the ladyfriend and one of my sons, and spent Saturday and Sunday in the gopher patch with my oldest son and his family. Got a cold which sort of sucked but overall a great weekend.

It was great. BBQ with friends on Friday. Good food and company. Had a bit of a drizzle later in the evening but the fire kept going strong. Work on Sat/Sun and a nice relaxing day off today.
