Default Pike on the fly

Hey all,

As the trout fishing slows down for the season I like to get out on the pontoon and huck some big streamers and target the pike. I fish out at Clear Lake nine times out of ten and consistently catch a whack of hammer handles but never anything on the larger side. Does anyone have any recommendations for pontoon friendly pike lakes within a couple hours from Calgary?

Thanks.

This year was my first time for pike on the fly but sylvan lake when the busy season is over is really nice and clear with loads of fish. I like site fishing the shallows. But also don't have much experience so other people might have better places

Depends on what you mean by pontoon friendly. With my trolling motor on there aren't too many lakes that I won't try.

Clear lake is fun for numbers, but the big guys are hard to find.

Cow Lake SW of Rocky Mtn. House has some decent sized pike. Got one <> 10 lbs. about 10 days ago. Landed 14 with the smallest about 24".
Fished from the pier for about an hour and hooked 3 this afternoon but only landed one about 6 lbs.

For the story from last year.

Regards,

Don
