Default Fly Fishing the Bow

What is everyone using today to fish the bow?

I am brand new to this and have no idea.

If I could play hooky and fish the Bow this afternoon, I'd use one of the classic Bow River rigs, I heavy San Juan Worm (instead of splitshot), and a dropper such as a GRHE, Pheasant Tail Nymph, or Prince Nymph, under an indicator, floating line, and about a 9 - 10' leader. The key is to mend your line so that your flies are bouncing along the bottom drag-free.

Sweet tip! I'm heading down this weekend to fish the Bow for the first time. I better hit the vise for a bit.

Yeah if you want lots of action the worm is killing it right now...a small bead or back-swimmer swung in front of rising fish will produce as well as making your heart skip a beat, love this time of year!!

Default Fall Bow

If you are out on a nice afternoon much like we have had the last week pay attention to the flat water.... as its the best time of year to target sippers on small dries and emergers.... had a great day with my daughter doing just that on Saturday PM

Beautiful rainbow, the bow was tuff for us, we only landed 2 fish in 2 days one brown and one rainbow, fished it hard, was tuff.

October is usually great, I have not fished it this year, but have in previous years. Out best luck was on a hopper dropper, with a tungstud drop, don't overlook the shallow water, before moving into the main run. We caught quite a few fish in 1-2 ft of water before moving into the main run.

In this pic, you can see the main run off my left side in the pic in line with the trees, about 2ft of water here or less.
