Default Trigger Relacement

Looking for some help finding a gun smith to change out the trigger on my 30-06 Savage Accutriger. Don't care to much for the accutrigger, are there other hunters, that have it and do not like it..

Western Gun parts in Edmonton carries Timney triggers.
Call them spend the coin and retro fit it.
Other options are Rifle Basix, they will deal factroy direct and since it's under $100.00 USD they can ship it up here no export permits required.
At least I know ABwhitetail manged to get one that way. (last fall)

Default gunsmith

I have used Alberta Tactical a few times and I have been very satisfied with Rick. He is in the book in Calgary. He tends to be fairly busy.

I could ditto the gimmic trigger device opinion. I like a 3 to 4 pound clean break with just enough SAFE engagement. I can be familliar and predictable with that if I practice in the field.

I have owned and worked on lots of Savages and cant stand the Accu-trigger. The Timney is an easy replacement with minimal modifications. And Dick is right, Western Gun Parts usually has them in stock. The other option is to call Timney direct, they are good to deal with and ship fairly quick.

Good luck!

That's right.....Rifle Basix was real good to deal with, and as long as the trigger is under $100 USD they will ship it right to your door factory direct.....no paperwork, permits, or right arms required....over $100 and then the BS begins.....

I talked to a sales rep at Savage and she said that the kit to remove the accutrigger is one of their most popular accessories!!! Go figure.

what would a Timney go for? Does anyone think that you could adjust the old style Remington trigger to be as crisp and light as a timney or should I just go for the replacement?

Frenchwhitey, you cannot get the Remington trigger as light and crisp as a Timney. There's a noticeable difference between the two. Additionally, Remington triggers cannot be safely adjusted much below 2.5lbs.
My Timney trigger was an easy replacement in my Rem 700 SPS, if you've got the funds, just get one, you won't be disappointed.

Talk to Savage myself, I was told that the only trigger that could go into the accutrigger rifle is anther accutrigger. Also looked at the timney but the only way is with some mods. Keep me posted if you have any luck finding one that fits.
