Default 110 in a Weasel box?

Is the Victor rat trap the only legal set in a weasel box or can you use a 110? If you can use a 110 has anyone had much success with it in this context?

I don't know what is legal any more.

However, over the years I have caught hundreds of Weasel in 110s.
Most were not the main target. The sets were made primarily for Marten and Fisher. Weasel were only a welcome alternative catch.

I used a box my brother and I invented, to hold the trap.
It looked like a bird house box with no bottom in it.

The trap was placed in the open bottom and the box anchored to a tree trunk, anywhere from a foot to five feet above ground.

I wouldn't try using one of the modern 110 size traps on weasel. They would cut any animal that size in two.

When targeting Weasel, we preferred the Victor wood&wire rat traps.

Default 110 for weasel

The 110 is now legal for weasel and so are a lot of other different traps. Go to the Fur Institute of Canada website and click on approved traps. They have just added some new approved traps. The problem is , they don't tell us what their set up was to get the desired control and kill area for the weasel. We have brought this up with the FIC and they are working on it.
