Favorite time of day to fish
Good morning all.
Great weekend, tough to come back to work today.
Just curious on preference for time of day to fish.
I like the early morning fish, but due to circumstance, starting to have less AM time, and more PM time.
What time of day is your favorite, and how does success rate vary accordingly.

I like fishing the PM and into the dark. Just cause the sun goes down doesn't mean the fish stop biting.

There is a fishing theory based of temperatures and it's effect on cool water fish like trout, pike etc.
Typically for best success, you should fish is the most pleasant part of the day,,,, during periods of cooler weather, then fish the warmest part of day (afternoons typically in early spring to mid spring and fall tend to be better). During the hot season, early to mid morning followed by late evenings can be golden.
All based on the fact fish are cold blooded and typically their most active range of water temps often coincides with the most pleasant part of day for anglers!!!

the two best times to go fishing by far are when the sun is down and when it's up.

When the fish are biting.
So the actual time of day is variable to what the target is.

I like fishing early mornings, but I'll take whatever time I can get.

Early mornings are the best for me. Fishing is usually pretty good, not as many boats out and you have the whole day ahead of you.

If I am after walleye it's first or last light, IIRC I have done better at last light.
Pike mid mourning, but this time of year mid afternoon after the water warms up.
Trout it depends, but mid mourning on a river, first light on a lake

That is not the only word I have a blind spot for , I can't seem to tell the difference between 1/60 of an hour and a dance.

It’s not that I don’t like fishing early mornings, it’s just that I don’t like getting out of bed.
I actually like fishing pike in the mid afternoon until about an hour before sunset. Everything varies by species. Lake trout fishing I’ve had the best success right at sunrise.

A day of fishing
I prefer to leave home around 9:00 AM then fish all afternoon/evening. Then a meal of walleye & a little sleep so I can wake up early and fish 'til noon. That's the earliest I would leave to move on.
That's a shore supper and a shore lunch and two for the Mrs. at home.
Tournaments are different. Then it's into the boat at 6:00 and out of it at 4:00. All day every day.

Hit the water when the sun rises and leave when the sun sets. Then you get to hit all the good times.
I actually do this far too often lol.

I like the early mornings best... usually the wind isn't up yet, and with any luck, I'll have the area I'm fishing all to myself or my and my fishing partner.

Catching is the key to fishing, if your not out there...who knows when the best time was or is?

Favorite time of day
Early morning for me. I like me being the first one on the water.
