I've driven both a 2014 ram (5.7L with 3.92 gears I believe) and my 2013 F150 with 5.0L and 3.55 gears.

The ram has the acceleration down-pat. A little bit nicer of a ride when going around the city. But backing up you are practically blind. And every douche in edmonton wants to race you. Also made a lot of friends at the gas station every 4 days...

The ford is WAY easier on gas. 10.9L if I cruise at 105 on the highway. I've towed under 7500lbs with it, and don't need to go higher than that. To me that's getting into diesel territory.

The 1500 ram suspension I find wasn't that great you put a little bit of wait and the cool springs would sink Id take the Ford

LOL I was driving my 2003 F250 and pulled up beside a 2014 RAM 1500. The guy wanted to race so I did. Smoked him bad. That stock 5.7 didn't like my beefed up 6L. Good times

My opinion.

Would never buy an Eco Lemon or anymore Ford's for that matter.

My experience with an Ecoboost.

I have a ram 1500 sport.

Goes like hell, beat my girlfriends brother with his ecoboost.

It gets really good mileage for a v8 (~11l/100km hwy)

It also rides like a dream with the coil suspension

Well I work on these things for a living, and for me it would be the F150 with the 5L, followed by the Dodge. Either one would be fine, just like the Ford a bit better. I don't particularly like an engine that needs 2 plugs per cyl, or needs them changed every 30k, but otherwise it seems ok.

Without GM's I think we'd go broke! That said, GM's generally seem easiest to work on, so I guess thats good.

Did some research, found a guy that has 286,000 miles on his ecoboost. Had his own timber company. Said he had everything original, on his fourth set of spark plugs, and a driver side window regulator. He said " my truck may break down tomorow, but I doubt it" all you gotta do is watch the ford torture test haha

Toyota Tundra. I bought a new 1794 Edition back in may and absolutely love it. Tons of power, very comfortable ride, great reliability. 200,000km 8yr warranty. Whats not to like?
Than you dont look like every other Jabrony in Alberta with Either a white, or black ram 1500/F-150 with blacked out windows.
If you are in the Lloydminster area I highly recommend going and seeing Aseem at Silverwood Toyota.
Top notch service.

I am a Chev guy but love the new F150 and the new 2017 F250 that will be released in a year.

The new 2017 Ford F-150 Atlas now as of today has really caught my eye....it's one sharp looking truck.

I haven't liked Dodge for years but the coil suspension and the new v6 diesel are very interesting and I might have a closer look.

We got a Ram 1500 with the ecodiesel in April, best mileage was 8.5 l/100 going from Calgary to Armstrong last summer. Averages around 9.5 most of the time. We got the air suspension and it rides like a dream. We also got the ram boxes and I wouldn't hesitate putting my rifles in them, they don't leak any dust at all. Someone told me they hold 132 cans of beer. I also used it to pull my boat home last spring from Bashaw and it did 16.5 l/100 on that trip, 5000 lb 21.5 foot wake boat.

Had a buddy drop 7k on an F150 with the cam phaser issue.

The Ford trucks are more expensive than the dodges. They also seem to have more hi-tech crap in them

From what I know, the Big 3 are all really the same just different issues on any given day.

I have had two dodges (1500 with the 318 and a 2500 with the 360). I bought them because they were the cheapest ones I could find when looking at comparable trucks when I went to buy.

I have had routine maintenance issues with both dodges (U-joints, minor vac leaks, failed power door locks, failed wiper park) but the reality is the drive train itself has never failed outright. They have generally been cheap to repair and keep on the road.

If I had bags of money I would buy Toyota.

If I was going to resale before I beat the think to death, probably pay up front a bit more for the Ford.

Being half Scottish - the old "cheaper the better" always seems to win out! I'll probably just stick with Dodge and accept its shortcomings in the end.

Ford or Dodge buy the one that blows your skirt up. Do not buy the eco boost POS buy the 5.0. Skip the Toyota as they have a reputation that is not backed up by fact. GM is junk.

Having put countless hours in the passenger seat of both for work (my operator demands to drive) I can honestly say on a long haul the Dodge is horrible. The transmission hump is right in the way so the passenger can never get comfortable. If you are going on long drives the passenger will demand to drive. As for dependability, I have never noticed a difference. We put a lot of hard kilometers on our trucks has stood out. The only thing I will say is that the dodges are a lot easier to fix.

Lol only ones that come on to forums and talk about ecoboosts are the ones that have had problems with them. You never here about the other 95% of people with ecoboosts. I mean look around you see ecoboost badges left right and centre haha oh well some people are just uneducated
