Default Whitetail buck on the ground

Went out tonight and took my buddy dave who has not hunted with a bow before and put him in a stand at 5:30 then I drove to my stand and got to the stand at 6:10pm. I settled in for the night and at 7:15 I seen a doe and two fawns walking across the meadow at about 250 yards all of a sudden right under my stand a 2x2 whitetail came flying past me goin mach 1 and right behind him was another buck a 3x3 on the dead run I figured they must have winded me and spooked. I thought oh well maybe another time. about 2 minutes later I heard a snap behind me on the cutline. All of a sudden there was 4 more whitetail bucks comeing past my shooting lanes. I think that these four bucks had chased the other two smaller ones, instead of me getting winded by them. This guy was the biggest of the 6. I looked at him and thought I was going to harvest him if he presented a shot for me because of his mass on the bases, I needed a summer cape for my last years buck since my cat wrecked the cape before I got it caped out last year. He came walking past my stand through the second shooting lane and I counted 6 points on each side. As he was walking towards my last shooting lane I drew my bow and waited he walked into the lane and I grunted at him with my voice and he stopped before he could look my way the luminok was going behind his shoulder. He took off and went 20 yards before piling up. I know he is not the biggest but I wanted the cape for last years.

Nice buck! I've never seen anything like that ... 6 bucks in the same stand. I'm lucky to see one per night.

I haven't seen a whitetail buck yet. It's been a brutal year for me.

Looks pretty good to me Trav. Nice work. Sounds like I'm having about as much luck as Russ. Opening day was good but not much since.

Congrats on the fine deer.

staying in the deep bush, they are moving around in the bush where it is cooler. It might be warm out but unfort for them they still have to move to survive to eat and get water. caught this guy on a way out of the deep bush to the alfalfa fields and oat fields.
