Default Some bigguns

Spent Thr, Fri and Saturday last week chasing huge and extremely tough fighting bows.

2nd fish in and I hook up with this behemoth. Easily 6 lbs and around 25 inches...maybe 26. Fight was amazing!

Awesome fish after awesome fish - just some highlights

Tail slap to the hand release.

Dry fly in the hole

Beauty! Looks like a black wooly bugger?

I had a 20 inch slab on Monday so tried to estimate the girth before releasing and then at home looked up a site with a weight estimation calculator for trout.

14" girth 4.9 lb
15" girth 5.6 lb
16" girth 6.4 lb

No idea how accurate this might be, but then again a big trout is a big fish no matter the weight.

The good ole reliable pheasant tail nymph
Bought at the fishing hole cause I suck at tying them. I think that one is a size 12 or 10.

The cool part is the dry fly and streamer fishing were all flies that I've picked up in the USA over the last few years. Steamer and dries were the most thunderous hits. One streamer hit took me into my backing. As i'm getting the line back on the reel the fish flies upstream now and you can hear the line sizzle it is going to fast....into the backing again. Love this time of year!

Nice!! That is a hog for sure

I didn't bring a net and was by myself so snapping quick pics was all I was going to risk. I would have loved to get measurements on that first fish...

Those are very high estimates for a Bow R. fish.

You're right. I was on a pothole lake so girth will be much higher than for a river trout, most of the time.
