Default Duct cleaning

Wife and I recently purchased a rural property that has an older mobile home on it. The mobile home had a distinct odor and a serious black fly problem (this was in January!), so we knew something was amiss. The heating system is a down flow furnace with a single duct that runs the length of the mobile home with registers cut into that duct. I took the shop vac to the ducts and eventually vacuumed up the remains of something small and furry . The smell is better and the flies are mostly gone, but I'm sure there are still remnants in the duct.

I need to get the duct cleaned out, but I'm not sure the 'duct cleaning' companies will be up to the task (assuming I can find one that will travel out here).

The shop vac approach is very hit and miss, the hose only covers about 20% of the duct.

I can't think of anything I can push/pull through the duct to get all the bits out.

Best idea I've come up with so far is to take the ducts out, clean them and put them back. I would prefer not to do this because I can't get near sheet metal without leaving a blood sacrifice.

Any suggestions?

Default anytime someone mentions small and furry I think disinfectantt

Without a mild javex solution disinfecting those ducts I would not be going anywhere near them especially releasing anything into air by vacuum. Hanta virus precautions anytime I see evidence on the farm of mice

I agree with the concern about Hanta virus, but that ship sailed long ago... said furry has been in the hot air duct, with the furnace running, for many months before we bought the property... anything that was going to be airborne was already airborne. Otherwise I would have been in full hazmat get-up before I went anywhere near it.
