I see a surprising number of trucks around town with Confederate flag front license plates.

Maybe they look at the confederate flag as a symbol for alberta separation?

Who were they playing, the Red Deer.....Rebels?

The flag is upside down and backwards, the international sign of distress.

Amazingly I see more confederate flags in Alberta than in Florida, or much of the south.

I think because up here some people think of it primarily as a symbol of rebelliousness, etc. But we haven't had the history of slavery and segregation needed (or at least some haven't gotten the education) to see it as the truly offensive symbol that it is.

I get someone would think it funny to bring it to a "redneck" game, it fits, and that they might not agree with anything the flag stands for. But then I guess I would ask how and why the guy had one in the first place.

Side note: inappropriate to display that flag, or any foreign flag, during the playing of our national anthem.

Hockey game is probably pretty safe. I didn't actually see any people of color in the audience. Now don't try that at a Raptors game. LOL

I don't see the rebel flag as offensive and as said it can have different meanings to different people. I see it as a sign of freedom, as a child growing up in the Dukes of hazard era it's the one flag that's always been around through out my life. I suppose some would see it as an American swastica but I don't, I think a swastica on a flag is like the symbol for the middle finger more than a symbol of freedom. Just my opinion
