Default Mr John Schnabel

ive read that this old school entertaining man has passed away.

I hope I'm as active as he is when I'm 95.

I enjoyed his spots on the show.

A man who has seen much. May his eternal path be paved with nuggets. RIP John.

Just caught the season ending gold count last night and he seemed so very excited for his grandson that he had come so far since he took over the reins. One proud grandpa. I enjoyed him on the show as well. RIP Mr gold rush.

Ffs. Really liked him. Hell of a grandfather to have. Nicest guy I've ever seen on any show and maybe even real life. This sucks.

He was awesome, always brought a big smile to my face when he was on. Hopefully Parker can turn out to be 1/10 the man someday….not looking good so far I'd say.

RIP.

Parker doesn't know how blessed he is to have a mentor like his Grandpa. Every kid should have someone like that to look up to instead of the idiots many kids have to follow in the wake of.

Truly one of the reasons of Parkers success. Always enjoyed when he made an appearance on the show, like said above he always made me smile as well,he was a big kid at heart for sure, and an honest and hardworking man.

Lost both my grandfathers over 35 years ago, would have love to have an influence in my life like Mr Schnabel.

RIP.

Sorry to hear , but in all honesty , I'm amazed that he lasted this long .

first episode of each of the last 3 seasons , I thinking that we're going to find out that he passed during the winter , and next thing you know , there he is.

Usually when he shows up for a visit , he's driving on his own ... where's he coming from , how long a drive is it , it's got to be tough to make ( what I assume is a lengthy drive ) when you're over ninety , hell how many people even still have a drivers licence after 85 .

It was nice to he his visits this year , were via a helicopter .

But talk about being able to leave this world with good piece of mind , knowing that your 21 year old grandson , pulled well over 3 million bucks worth of gold , out of the ground ... with knowledge you taught him .

you talk about Parker being 1/10 th of the man , and yes he's certainly got a lot of learning to do .... but then again he's still got 70 plus years to do it .

That sucks.

From what is seen on television it would appear that he had a very enriched life. One he made for himself, he loved his family and they loved him back. A patriarch indeed.

RIP Mr Schnabel

It is yet to be seen if Parker will amount to anything near what his Grandfather was, but, it is because of men like him that young man have a chance. Shout out to all of the dad's and grandpa's out there doing a great job!

I'm sure parker will do alright, he has a safety net of successfull people behind him, It's more impressive what John built without the backing of anyone.

Lots of speculation about Parker here. If one reads up on the history of Gold Rush one will see that one person quit Parker's crew because he felt too much of the show was scripted. Do you actually believe that at least some of this isn't made up. Welcome to fairyland. It never fails me how people seem to believe what they see on TV. And yes John seemed to be a very inspirational man. It's TV, get over it already!!!!
