Al.

I am always looking for bigger and better renewable energy power plants for one of my strange hobbies.

You are indeed an inspiration.

Thank you.

Oh:

One of my strange hobbies.

Isn't that what a hobby is all about?

How on earth are you catching them?
What is happening to those you are not releasing?

Really don't have much time for hobbies... Between work, kids, voluteering, and of course the essentials: Hunting/Fishing and "wife maintenance".

Try to squeeze a bit of time in for some music, though. Hardly classifies as a "Strange" hobby, though...

Hunting is my main hobby, but in the off season this year I've taken up playing chess online against people from all over the world. Don't laugh it's better than tying fish hooks.....

Beside the general outdoors and hunting stuff I got into building my own rifle stock from scratch. I am getting more serious about long range shooting; I started reloading 2 years ago and will join the Alberta Full-bore Rifle Association in the spring.

This year to top up the usual gardening I am getting a beehive and maybe (still working on the wife) a few chickens. Propliner, that’s a great looking tomato. I would buy some seeds from you, just let me know.

I want to ride my bicycle for 100 miles in one day, on my 55th birthday this coming May. So lately I have been watching TV at the Gym with my ass glued to the stationary bike.

My wife and I are involved with organizing groups to go cooking at the Mustard Seed, we do this 3 to 4 times a year. Once a year we also go to Ghana, West Africa, to visit a women group that we have been supporting for 4 years. We’ll be there the first 2 weeks of March and this year we are trying to initiate a local initiative that will enable a few young girls to go to middle school and then High School.

And there is the full time job that has a tendency to get in the way of all the fun stuff above…

A big net, on a telescopic pole. For species of provincial significance, voucher specimens are required by the powers that be, for purposes of documentation. While photographs are sometimes sufficient, some species require close examination to identify accurately.

For all you guys who are interested in my tomato seeds, I'm also developing a pepper that beats anything from the grocery store in every way. I can spare a few seeds of each for the first few interested gardening hobbyists.

Several of my tomatoes this past summer topped one pound, despite the lousy growing season.

More fun to introduce or re-introduce our shooting sport to new shooters and older shooters re-entering our sport after putting the firearms away 30 or 40 years ago to pursue a carrier in the city instead of taking time to enjoy our wonderful outdoors. From the lowly .22 to the obsolete BP (most recent 43 Mauser 71/84) and muzzle loaders, it's a blast! The plus side of doing the bush walk is finding gnarly diamond willow to convert into cribbage boards, furniture and the odd cane/walking staff/shooting rest. Life is good when to get to share your passions!

Let me know when you develop a Scotch Bonnet that size -- you will have my eternal loyalty!

I know who to PM with questions this year in setting up my first garden this spring!

I don't consider my hobby odd, although my wife does. I collect polypterus, currently I have 12 total, 10 different types sizes ranging from 10 to 22"

They do appear similar and that is part of the appeal. The are an ancient species in line with lungfish and gars. They are partial air breathers and come up to the surface to gulp air. Cool any way you spell it

I got into BC placer gold claims last spring, I worked one of mine last summer, found some, nothing big.
Now I have 3 claims in the Cariboo region, gathering some equipment now.
Can't wait for spring and summertime this year.

Well, like in post #53 where I mentioned there being time to ruin the painting in the second photo, I've managed to do just that.

It's a good pastime though. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it one of these days.
