limit 0; Sauger limit 3 from Apr. 1 to May 14; Pike limit 1 over

I would tend to agree. Some species congregate and become highly suseptible to over harvest.

Nope there was a loop hole for people who knew it . You couldnt keep them out of the river but you could keep them out of creeks that flow into the river .

Please feel free to post any new changes that you notice from the new 2013 fishing regulations, In your local fishing area.

Slope turnout structure (NE32-16-15-W4)
l May 8 to Mar. 15 – Walleye limit 0 – except the holder of a Special
Fish Harvest Licence and tags may retain walleye of a size,
number and at the times specified on the licence; Pike limit 1 over
63 cm; Perch limit 15; Lake Whitefish limit 10; Burbot limit 10; Bait
allowed.
l Mar. 16 to May 7 – CLOSED

A zero limit is being implemented for Pike in
Round Lake (NB2) in order to recover that
collapsed population.

i find it funny how you can't keep any walleye from the NSR in Alberta but cross the border and you can keep 4.

Fawcett onto tag system, who saw that coming!

Goes from 3 fish, to tagged, man... Where do they get their research numbers from?... Lakes been outfished forever and now they drop it to tags, when in reality should close it to any form of keeping...

Think about it, if you could keep walleye, Edmonton would clean that river out within a year.

The wording of the zero limit regulation for trout in Lower Kananaskis
Lake has been corrected to apply also to Boulton Creek, a tributary stream.

In order to decrease harvest pressure on Lake Trout in Cold Lake and
support further recovery of the fishery, the minimum size limit changes
from 65 cm to 75 cm; however, the bag limit remains at 1 fish.

The harvest of Rainbow Trout from Beaver Lake (ES2), designated as a
Quality Stocked Fishery (QSF), was too high under the previous 2 fish
bag limit and the QSF goal to achieve at least 10% of fish being larger
than 50 cm was not being met. Following public consultation, a zero
limit is being implemented to meet the goal.
Fishing opportunities for stocked Rainbow Trout are increasing in NB3.

The Town of High Level Fish Pond will be stocked for the first time in 2013, and the stocking program will resume at
Cummings Lake (near airview) for the first time
since 2009.

In 2012, during an amendment of the Alberta Fishery Regulations, 1998,
the Federal government inadvertently removed the provision prohibiting
the use of barbed hooks.
This rendered the barbless-only requirement
when angling in Alberta unenforceable. The intent is to restore the
legislation at the earliest opportunity. Until this occurs, anglers are asked
to continue to voluntarily comply with the spirit and intent of the
barbless-only regulation and refrain from the use of barbed hooks

So barbs officially allowed.

I disagree who in their right mind what eat something out of the NSR? That's disgusting unless you enjoy fish marinated in fecal matter.

the NSR is a walleye factory and probably one of the most under fished waterbodies in the province, i don't think the folks in Edm could fish it out.

NSR is the best walleye fishery we have in Alberta. Way more food in river systems then lakes. You need a jet and u need to know where to go. I bet you didn't know that there's parts of the NSR that u can cast across and their 30 feet deep. Look at tobin and meadow lake prov park. Just giant river systems. Oxygen levels are way up too!! Sorry for the off topic comment

Anyone else see this? Does this closure only apply to tributaries or is the entire system closed for high water?

I have to disagree that you need a Jetboat to catch walleye in the river. Caught plenty from the shore.

If you want trophy class walleye out of NSR you need a jet boat or 2 weeks off with 2 feet and a heart beat

Ill still continue to fish barbless - I don't plan on eating, unless I am fishing a stocked pond for dinner, or a creek dominated by brook trout - than I might keep the barbs as I'll eat what I catch.
