Default Firewood

Does anyone have any firewood they want to get rid of. Im going on a wintercamp next week and there is a shortage of firewood at the location. I would like to bring a cord or more if I can find some. Our fires will be burning 24/7. Im in Edmonton. Thanks!

Curtis

Do you know of one in Edmonton, Clash...that's a good idea. Even better if it is west of Edmonton.

There is a place just west of 156st on 114 Ave or 115 Ave that has bins filled with 2X4 pieces that the public can just grab. In the past I've seen them empty, at at times enough to fill three 1/2 ton trucks. No idea how much they have around right now?
Sometimes there are ads in the bargain finder of guys trying to ditch old pallets to be used as firewood. Again- wouldn't burn very long.
Good luck.

nope i don't..i am in southern alberta and have a secret supplier passed on to me by my dad who used to build fireplaces/stoves for people...a long family secret haha.....

but any place that builds frames for houses or modular homes usually has a huge 2x4 scrap pile....it costs them money to have companies come out and empty the scrap bin...so they like people to come and take it off their hands for free...

If your fires are burning 24/7 I would strongly recommend birch. Burns longer and hotter. Just make sure it is dry.

Maybe I will call a firewood business and ask if they would like to donate a cord of birch or poplar firewood to the school. It may be worth a try. But, thanks for the suggestions guys.

Here is a number for a couple that have a small business on TWP 512 and Rge 13(SW of Stony Plain. They might be willing to donate some, as it's just a retirement hobby that got way out of hand(now a full time job again)

Hi Curt: Two place to try are Alberta truss 20st and 101 ave, and Westek Truss 15108-131 ave. Both usually have lots of 2X4" trim ends. Alberta Truss is free, they just ask that you sign in at the office. Westek is $20/pickup truck load. Enjoy!
