This is old news actually, just have to read and put some faith in alternative news sources.

I have to chuckle over all this Ukraine grandstanding that the world is doing - but nobody seems to have done any homework over putting sanctions on Russia. Good thing it's not winter, i'm sure all of Ukraine would be freezing their arses off with no nat gas.

Not Quite. The end of the shuttle program was coming long before Obama, a successor was planned, but it didn't happen cause of cost. Don't think we'll be going to Mars either , just too damned expensive for the once richest, most powerful country on Earth and the Willpower isn't there anymore.

Are they STUPID or something?

Actually, the US has excellent and reliable lift to orbit capacities, centered around the Atlas rocket family. However the Atlas is is used for satellite payloads, not for human flight to the ISS.

Wow! Is there anything that isn't Obama's fault? I suppose he shot JFK too.

How did that little stint in beruit work out for olde ronny. ....hamas on comparison to the Soviets hmm laughable. Ronny out spent the russkies, if it came to a fight the out come is enevitable . Posturing what actors are good at.

Yep, NASA was gutted and turned into political agency to support climate change lunacy. Well done, well done.

The shuttle program took years to phase out so its role was sealed under the last administration's rule . Little if nothing to do with the current administration.

Those shuttles were getting to be like our Sea King helicopters, older than the guys flying them. First manned flight was in 1977.

A space program is a massively expensive undertaking, as is the global projection of military force.

It can be a challenge to appreciate just how *expensive* warfare is, and how much it siphons away from other possibilities.

A nice graph for comparison: http://www.democraticunderground.com/122812443

Yes but nasa is successful. The US milatary is any thing but. the value for the dollar is on nasas side. They to an extent elevate humanity thru space travel (I know no profit) the US military ...well... some thing some thing kill'em all. Not exactly bringing up humanity.

That is nothing, you should figure out what Canada produces for ourselves...we are so dependent on other nations manufacturing for us we are almost welfare cases....just remove all the things from China, India, and Tiawan.....we would be lost.

Never mind the imports from Asia. We export almost everything we make to the States, and much of that is made here by US controlled corporations.

Our own vulnerability to this single export market makes US dependency on Russian rocketry for ISS access seem like nothing.

I believe that the European Space Agency was launching ARENA Rockets carrying commercial satellites from either French Guyana or British Guyana, or Guyana, as it is closest to the Equator.

Canada had its Anik 3 satellite put up by ESA, which apparently can double as a spy satellite.

The US is not hostage to Russia for satellite launch capabilities.

The World is hostage to Russia for launches for the Space Station though.

Maybe we will have to work with the Chinese for rocket service to the Space Station from now on.

What about SpaceX? Dragon has docked with the Space Station twice now, hasn't it?

It is called "priorities". Osama Obama's priorities are in promoting food stamps, no less, no more!!! I have two siblings that live in the "excited states of america", and that is the only conclusion that they have come to, seeing where their taxes end up.
