Default Hi All! Ice out report

Hello everyone.
I'm new to the forum and look forward to the discussions and info this awesome site provides.
I was wondering if there would be any interest in an annual lake ice off report.
Your comments please.

I think an ice off report is a great idea. Keeps the fishing section tidy, and a one stop thread for everyone looking to get back on the water.

I haven't been out to check any of the lakes yet, but from other reports it sounds like Newell is ice free as of a couple days ago.

Welcome to the board!

Pine Coulee was free of ice on Tues. Water is very low but could probably float smaller boats. Dock was not in yet. Fishing is closed until May 14.

Thks for the info so far!
Always nice to know the ice off conditions after the long winter doldrums.I'm sure most of you like me are happy to get that info so we know what to expect once we get there.
What about a list of lakes listed alphabetically with a few Columns that you could update under a fixed thread heading. For example:Twin Valley res. Column 1- Ice conditions in inches or cm - Column 2- ice out.
When thinking about fishing your fav lake that is open to fishing you would only have to search based on the spelling of that lake.

Oh well it was worth a shot.
400 views and only a handful of replies.
Thanks to those that did.
Cheers

Ponds in this area are ice free, so I'm guessing Mclean is as well. possibly Sibbald too

Default Ice off report

That's a great idea I'm also new to the forum, joined last week while searching the internet/making calls to check on ice conditions at several lakes.

Default Lake macgregger

Still lots of ice but a small boat could get around ok, the edges are breaking up well, also seen a couple of guys on dalmead pond with a 12 ft boat and electric motor, looks like they were doing ok. Eagle lake east of strathmore is still iced over as well.

Last edited by Justanotherbuck2; 05-04-2014 at 12:44 PM. Reason: added another lake

Default Beaver

Beaver lake near Caroline is about half way there as of around 2. Enough that I am going to slide in after work and chuck a spoon or two.

Default Carson-Pegasus (McLeod) Lake

I was there yesterday, lake still about 7/8 ice covered, lots of snow in campground, road to south boat launch blocked by downed tree (and large amount of snow).

Ghost dam is open from the inlet to the cliffs on the north side. From the cliffs to the dam itself is still iced up. Water is still extremely clear.
Boat launch is in the 50% that is still covered in ice

Just come back from a day trip to a remote project in the Peerless Lake and Trout Lake / Graham Lake area................still covered in ice. Some areas close to shore has some open water but not far out...maybe 10-20 metres. Ice looked thick still.
