Default DIY target from old clothes...

I've heard that a compressed burlap sack full of old clothes or rags makes a great, cheap target. But I'm wearing my clothes, I don't have any old stuff! Anyone have any idea where I could get free (clean!) old clothes?

You could buy rags from an auto parts store that are just old clothes cut up and vacuum packed in small bundles. If they would fit in the burlap as is, you wouldn't have to compress them at all. They are packed in there pretty tight so should work well. Not sure how cheap they would be though.

I have 3 huge bags stuffed with clothes that I was going to use as an archery target, they are unused. I purchased a bulldog target then found another cheap at a garage sale. They are taking up space in my garage and are free to a good home. I am located in Drayton valley and can meet someone a reasonable distance. I was going to throw them out today, so if someone is interested I would like them gone asap.

A box filled with old grocery bags is lighter and works very well.

Yup..mix the clothes with plastic wrap recycled bags and its like a commercial target...
Even better , as a member here came up with..find and old rigid material suitcase...most can be shoot right into...stuff as much as you can in it, sit on it and lock it...lol

voila portable target with handle...and if done right wheels and handle

Sorry abhunter, I'm nowhere near Drayton Valley.

Thanks LOST Arrow, I'll try that. I could probably pick up a suitcase from the salvation army for a couple bucks. Better than spending $100 or so at cabellas or wholesale sports.

That *is* a good idea - I think I'll scoot on over to the local Value Village, and with any luck, come away with a target for $25 or $30!
