Default g5 optix xr - thoughts?

Hey all,

Anyone have any experience with the g5 optix xr sight?
I like the optional fourth pin - would be interested in hearing any comments from experience.

Thanks in advance!

Dan

I absolutely believe they are junk! Terrible gear burn out when moving between distances with the floating pin.

Example:

Move floater to 50 yards, then to 60 yards. Tried to go back to 50 and you end up at about 54 yards even though the tape reads 50. You have to go back to the beginning to get a proper 50 yard reading again.

Save up and get the CBE or MBG and you will be much happier.

Buy a quality Spot Hogg once and you'll never have to buy another sight, at least that's what I would do.

At one time they were high end technology...never forget two hand tighten nuts per pin, always coming loose unless pliers were used...if one changed set up slightly horizontally or vertically you would have to move each pin separately...huge .200 blob pin...hence why they sit on bottom of duck pond ...lol

Mine has never let me down. It shoots steady and my floater holds distance, mine was set up to shoot up to 90 yards. It's a good sight and I have no complaints.

I have never shot one but know many that have that sight...none with those issues...would have shipped that one back...
for the price they are very light weight, quite, and pins are bright...

I had one a few years ago, the 4 pin model with the bottom floater.

I really liked it for what it was. I knew when I bought it that I wasn't buying a spot hogg or hha.

The floater worked really well for me with no issues in repeatability as long as I went all the way back up and then down to the desired yardage. I think it even says to do that in the instructions?

The sight was really light and built tough. I have 2 beefs though. First, only .019" pins were avalable then (now too?) It would have been nice to get that sight in .010"pins. Second, the fibers were all exposed in the front of the sight and the first time I took it spot and stalk bear hunting the red fiber got ripped out. I replaced it and built a guard for the front and the problem was solved.

When my 3 spot hogg sights got back from refurbishing at the factory I removed it and sold it, but it did serve it's purpose.
